Bobcats continue to climb conference’s leaderboards after Charlie Thomas Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, TX — The Charlie Thomas Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, provided another opportunity for the Texas State track and field program to display some of the top student-athletes in the Sun Belt Conference.

With Dominick Yancy's personal-best 47.27 and Donald Rolle's season-best 48.75 400m times over the weekend, the Bobcats now have the top four Men's 400m times among Sun Belt Conference student-athletes. In the Men's 200m, Bervensky Pierre posted a season-best 21.49 for the third-fastest time in the conference.

Sadi Giles continued to improve on her season as her 24.08-second 200m time is tied for the second-fastest Women's 200m by a Sun Belt Conference student-athlete so far this season. Jada Fleming jumped into the top four of the Women's 400m with a 56.13 time to give the Bobcats two student-athletes within the top-10 fastest Women's 400m among conference student-athletes.

In distance running, Pedro Osorio Lopez posted the fastest Men's 800m by a Sun Belt student-athlete this season with a 1:52.53 time.

This weekend's meet gave Lee-Anne Blake an opportunity to blister the competition in the Women's Mile Run. Blake posted a school-record 4:47.32 time, which is nearly 10 seconds faster than any women's student-athlete in the Sun Belt Conference.

The Texas State women's 4x400m relay team also posted the second-fastest time by a Sun Belt women's squad this season when they recorded a 3:47.07 time over the weekend.

Alyssa Wilson also continued her strong start to the field season with a conference-leading 15.75m throw in the women's shot put.

FROM DIRECTOR OF TRACK AND FIELD JOHN FRAZIER

"Across all event areas, there were numerous personal- and season-best marks. But what sticks out the most is the school record in the women's mile by Lee-Anne Blake as well as another great performance by Dominick Yancy as he continued to improve on his personal 400m time. Every week, Dominick does something impressive."
