Bobcats conclude indoor regular season behind another record-breaking performance

LUBBOCK, TX — At this point, it's Alyssa Wilson's world and everyone associated with collegiate indoor track and field is just living as the graduate transfer — for the second time this indoor season — broke the Texas State track and field women's weight throw record.

In the first event of the Texas Tech Shootout on Friday afternoon, Wilson, in her final throw of the event, needed to best Texas Tech's Seasons Usual's 21.47m throw to take the event's top spot. Wilson did that and so much more. In her final throw, Wilson topped her previous furthest throw — 20.84 — by a full 1.5 meters with a school-record 22.34m throw. That throw is 1.43m further than the next closest Sun Belt Conference women's weight thrower in any competition this indoor season.

A day later, Wilson was credited with the longest shot put — 15.83m — by any women's student-athlete in the Sun Belt.

Wilson was joined by Pedro Osorio Lopez atop the conference's top performers on the season as Lopez posted a 1:51.52 mark in the men's 800m this weekend. Lee-Anne Blake, a week after posting a school record, was clocked in a top-three time among conference student-athletes with a 2:11.43 women's 800m this weekend. Katherine Stucky's 1.72m leap in this weekend's women's high jump is now tied for the second-highest jump by any women's student-athlete in the Sun Belt so far this season.

Will Blaser also etched his name atop the conference leader boards when he posted a 17.30m shot put throw this weekend.
