SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State head baseball coach
Steven Trout announced the 2023 schedule on Thursday. The 56-game slate will see the Bobcats played 32 contests at Bobcat Ballpark.
"We are excited for the challenge of the 2023 schedule. We play eight teams that played in the NCAA Tournament, including two that advanced to Omaha," said Trout. "We have a great home schedule for Bobcat Nation to show up and make Bobcat Ballpark a true home field advantage!"
TXST will play 20 games against those eight teams that competed in 2022 NCAA Tournament, of which eight contest are taking place in San Marcos.
Over the course of the first 21 games, the Bobcats will play 17 contests at Bobcat Ballpark beginning with Northwestern (Feb. 17-19) to open the season. It will be the 13th consecutive year that Texas State's first pitch of the campaign takes place at home.
After hosting Oral Roberts the following weekend, Texas State hits the road for the first time when it makes the trip down I-35 to face Incarnate Word (Feb. 28). The following day the Bobcats are back in San Marcos to play Sam Houston.
The first weekend road series takes TXST back to the state of Arizona for the second year in a row. This time the Bobcats head to Phoenix to take on Grand Canyon (Mar. 3-5).
A 10-game homestand kicks off against UTSA (Mar. 7). During the stretch the Bobcats will play single non-conference games against Houston Christian (Mar. 22), TCU (Mar. 12) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Mar. 21). The final non-conference set will be against North Dakota State (Mar. 10-12) while Sun Belt Conference play begins with newcomer Southern Miss (Mar. 17-19).
Other conference teams that will be coming to San Marcos are Arkansas State (Mar. 31-Apr. 2), Marshall (Apr. 14-16), Georgia State (May 5-7) and ULM (May 18-20).
Texas State will hit the road in the Sun Belt beginning with Coastal Carolina (Mar. 24-26). The Bobcats will also play series at South Alabama (Apr. 6-8), Troy (Apr. 21-23), Old Dominion (Apr. 28-30) and Louisiana (May 12-14).
For the second straight year, the Bobcats will take on Texas on back-to-back days. The teams will play at Bobcat Ballpark on Apr. 10 and will head to Austin the following day.
TXST will take other midweek trips to TCU (May 16), Texas A&M (Apr. 4), UTRGV (Mar. 28), UTSA (Apr. 18). The last midweek contest for the Bobcats takes place Apr. 25 against Prairie View A&M.
