SAN MARCOS, Texas – Fans will get their first look at the reigning back-to-back Sun Belt Conference regular season champion Texas State men's basketball team Wednesday night. The Bobcats will host Cameron University in an exhibition game at Strahan Arena with tip scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will also be available.
 
About Texas State
TXST returns nine players from last season but only two starters in 
Mason Harrell and 
Nate Martin. Harrell is the top returner scorer after averaging 11.7 points per game while shooting 47.6% from the field, 40.3% on three-pointers and converting 84.4% of his free throws. The fifth-year senior was also selected to the All-Sun Belt Conference Preseason First Team.
 
Martin started 26 games on his way to putting up 4.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. The Cypress, Texas native made 50% of his shots and blocked 15 shots.
 
Other key returners are 
Nighael Ceaser (8.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg), 
Tyrel Morgan (4.2 ppg) and 
Drue Drinnon (3.8 ppg).
 
Five newcomers join the team with three transfers and two true freshmen. Arriving from Florida are both 
Tuongthach Gatkek and 
Elijah Kennedy while 
Brandon Davis comes from Loyola New Orleans. Freshmen on the squad are 
Jordan Mason out of San Antonio and 
Davion Sykes, whose father – David – played at Texas State from 1999-03.
 
About Cameron
The Aggies are a Division II program out of Lawton, Oklahoma and are members of the Lone Star Conference. Last season, CU went 5-18 and 3-13 in conference play.
 
Under first-year head coach Kevin O'Connor, the Aggies brought in 13 newcomers to the roster. The top returner from last year is Colt Savage as he averaged 14.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg. Also back are Nikolas Argropoulos (1.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg) and Kenyon Holcombe (4.5 ppg, 4.4 rpg) while Jaylen Swift took a redshirt season.
 
All-Time Series
Texas State and Cameron have met five times with the Aggies holding a 3-2 series edge. CU won the first three contests, all of which took place in Lawton, in 1975 and 1976. Last two games have seen the Bobcats come out on top with the most recent being a 77-73 overtime victory on Mar. 15, 1979 in the NAIA National Tournament.
