SAN MARCOS, Texas – The last game in Strahan Arena of the 2025 calendar year for the Texas State men's basketball team (7-6, 0-1 Sun Belt) takes place Saturday against South Alabama (9-3, 1-0 Sun Belt). Tip for the contest is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Wednesday saw the Bobcats' eight-game home winning streak come to an end against Arkansas State. Four players finished in double-figures led by
DJ Hall with 15 points along with a team leading seven rebounds and three steals.
Mark Drone added 14 points,
Kyndall Davis netted 13 and
Kaden Gumbs rounded it out with 12 points and six assists.

Drone paces the squad at 13.3 points per game while shooting 47.9% from the field. Hall is the only other double-digit scorer at 12.1 ppg and is grabbing a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game. He is second in both assists (30) and steals (21) to Gumbs, who has recorded 53 assists and 26 steals. The San Marcos native is also chipping in 8.0 ppg and has made a team leading 86.2% of his free throw attempts.

Franck Emmou (7.2) and
Makai Willis (7.5) are contributing over seven points a contest. Davis enters the weekend having scored at least 12 points in each of the last three contests.

About South Alabama
The Jaguars are coming off a 96-92 double-overtime victory at ULM on Wednesday. They trailed by as much as 20 points in the first half before forcing overtime on a last second layup. Saturday marks the fourth straight road game for South Alabama, which is in the midst of playing six road contests in a seven-game span.

Chaze Harris leads the team offensively at 16.8 ppg after his 38-point outing against the Warhawks. He also paces the team with 63 assists and 20 steals. Adam Olsen is contributing 16.0 ppg that has seen him make 40.0% of his three-point attempts with 38 makes from beyond the arc.

Peyton Law comes in scoring 12.8 ppg on a team-high 64.7% shooting. Also with a double-digit scoring average is Jayden Cooper at 11.0 ppg. Randy Brady leads the team with 7.0 rpg.

Series History vs. Jaguars
Texas State leads the all-time series 12-7. The last three seasons have seen the team split the six regular season meetings. Both games last season went to overtime with the home team winning each contest.

When playing in Strahan Arena, the Bobcats are 8-1 all-time in the series. Last year's contest ended with a 93-92 victory on Feb. 22, 2025. The lone home loss was on Feb. 22, 2023 that ended 76-67.
