SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off back-to-back shutout victories to close out non-conference play, the Texas State soccer team (3-2-1) opens Sun Belt Conference play on Thursday against Coastal Carolina (2-3-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with
Brant Freeman and Lindsay Mason Yanko on the call. An audio broadcast will be available on KTSW 89.9 FM and live stats will be available as well.
Goals2Cure

About Texas State
TXST is coming off a 4-0 win in its home opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday. The margin of victory was the largest for the Bobcats in a non-conference match since defeating Prairie View A&M by the same score on Sept. 8, 2017. That match was also Texas State's Teal Match that season and wrapped up non-conference play.
Leading the team with two goals apiece are
Kiara Gonzales,
Madison Humphrey and
Mya Ulloa. Both Gonzales and Ulloa scored against the Islanders. Also finding the back of the net this season has been
Trinity Clark,
Addison Gaetano,
Ally Kewish and
Olivia Wright. Both
Kamaria Williams and Gonzales have been credited with a team-high three assists.
Beth Agee recorded her second straight shutout between the posts while making two saves this past Sunday. She enters conference action with a 0.75 GAA, 25 saves and a .893 save percentage.
About Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers arrive in San Marcos on a three-match losing streak. They have been shutout in their past four contests with losses Richmond (2-0), UNC Wilmington (2-0) and Wake Forest (5-0), and a scoreless draw at Jacksonville. CCU comes in 0-2-1 this season in road matches.
Sarah Allen paces the squad with two goals. The only other play to find the back of the net has been Carleigh Frilles. The duo has taken a team-high 10 shots and placed four attempts on goal apiece.
Entering with an assist to their names are Loranna Austin, Santana Pressley, Ella Schad and Taylor Tolson.
Ky Hudson has started the past three matches in goal and sports a 2.92 GAA (9 GA), 18 saves and a .667 save percentage. Hope Morrow got the starts for the first three contests (0.30 GAA, 15 saves, .938 SV%) before suffering an injury with 7:11 left in the second overtime period at Jacksonville.
All-Time Series
CCU leads the all-time series 3-2-0. Texas State has won the last two meetings with a 2-0 win on Oct. 18, 2019 on the road and Oct. 21, 2018 by a score of 1-0 at home. The win in 2018 came on Senior Day and clinched the Sun Belt regular season championship with the long goal coming from Kaylee Davis.
The Chanticleers claimed the first three matches in the series. Their last win was a 2-1 double overtime contest on Nov. 1, 2017 in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship.
