SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the third time this season, Texas State (19-26) will face No. 5 Texas (35-11) on Tuesday. It will be the first meeting of the year in Austin at UFCU Disch-Falk Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The Bobcats won two of three at Louisiana to claim its second straight series over the Ragin' Cajuns. TXST won the first game 9-3 behind an eight-run fifth inning in which the team had nine consecutive hits. After dropping the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, Texas State took the series finale 6-2 behind six extra-base hits with five being doubles.

Justin Thompson extended his hitting streak to four games and is now hitting .322. He ranks in the top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference with 56 hits and 33 RBI.
John Wuthrich has hit safely in six of the seven games since his return from injury and smashed his first home run of the season on Friday.

Making his fifth start of the season on the mound Tuesday will be
Trevis Sundgren. He comes in 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 18 strikeouts.

Texas is coming off a series loss at home to Texas Tech this past weekend. The Longhorns are 2-3 since seeing their 16-game winning streak come to an end. At home, UT is 24-4 with a 9-0 record in midweek games.

Mitchell Daly leads the team with a .348 batting average and his 47 hits are tied for the most with Douglas Hodo III, who paces the squad with 36 runs. Ivan Melendez comes in hitting .341 with a team-high 10 home runs and 41 RBI.

Also batting over .300 is Zach Zubia at .303. He has scored 35 runs and plated 40 while hitting six homers. He also paces the squad with 44 strikeouts, 39 walks and a .453 on-base percentage. Swiping double-digits steals has been Mike Antico (24) and Eric Kennedy (16).

Slated to start on the rubber is Lucas Gordon. The left-hander will be making his first start of the season. He has made 14 relief appearances and carries a 3.06 ERA, 17 strikeouts and one save.

SERIES VS. THE LONGHORNS
The all-time series sees Texas lead 51-12 after winning the first two meetings this season on Mar. 3 (10-3) and Apr. 20 (5-1). The last win for Texas State was a 7-6 walk-off victory on Apr. 23, 2019 at Bobcat Ballpark.

When playing in Austin, the Bobcats are 10-43 all-time against the Longhorns. The last win for TXST in Austin was on May 17, 2016 by the score of 3-2.
