SAN MARCOS, Texas – Tuesday night will see Texas State (15-22) host No. 2 ranked Texas (30-8) Tuesday night at Bobcat Ballpark. It is the highest ranked opponent to come to San Marcos since Houston was ranked third on Feb. 25, 2015.

The Bobcats had a tough weekend in Seattle falling to Washington in all three games over the weekend.
Chase Evans paced the team offensively by going 5-for-11 (.445) with two home runs and four RBI. He extended his hitting streak to eight games as well.
Jaxon Williams also hit two doubles, one homer and plated three runs in the series.

Texas comes in on a 13-game winning streak, which is the second longest in the nation behind Farifield's 21-game winning streak that dates back to last season. The Longhorns are coming off a weekend sweep of Abilene Christian in which they outscored the Wildcats 32-2.

Four UT players are batting over .300 led by Ivan Melendez at .385. He also leads the team with 40 hits, eight home runs and 37 RBI while scoring 22 runs and recording 11 doubles. Also batting above .300 is Mitchel Daly (.359, 7 2B, 1 HR, 20 RBI, 6 SB), Douglas Hodo III (.309, 32 R, 26 RBI) and Zach Zubia (.314, 29 R, 34 RBI, 6 2B, 2 3B, 5 HR).

Swiping double-digit bases apiece has been Mike Antico and Eric Kennedy with 19 and 16, respectively.

Pete Hanson will get the call to start on the rubber. The lefty is 3-1 with a 2.31 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 39 innings spanning 10 games that includes eight starts. He was the starter in the first meeting against the Bobcats that saw him last 2.1 innings as he surrendered two runs on three hits.

SERIES VS. THE LONGHORNS
UT leads the all-time series 50-12 after winning the first meeting this year 10-3 in San Marcos on Mar. 3. The last win for TXST came on Apr. 23, 2019 by the score of 7-6 as Skylar Valentine hit a walk-off single.

The Bobcats are 2-6 all-time at home when facing the Longhorns. This season is the first in which Texas and Texas State face off twice at Bobcat Ballpark.
