Baseball Hosts Texas A&M Tuesday Night

SAN MARCOS, Texas –Texas State (15-18) is back home for the first time in over a week when it hosts Texas A&M (19-15) Tuesday at Bobcat Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
The game will be stream on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Ty Harrington on the call. KTSW 89.9 FM will also broadcast the contest and live stats will also be available.
 
PROBABLE STARTING PITCHERS
Tuesday: Trevis Sundgren (0-2, 5.89 ERA) vs. Jonathan Childress (2-4, 4.41 ERA)
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Bobcats won their first-ever game and series on the road against Troy this past weekend. TXST won the series opener 4-2 and clinched the series with a 3-1 victory on Saturday. Garrett Herrmann had a career performance with 12 strikeouts over seven innings while allowing just an unearned run game two of the series. At the plate, Jose Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to eight games as he recorded a double in each game.
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Gonzalez leads the team with a .327 batting average, 12 doubles and three triples thanks in part to going 13-for-31 (.419) at the plate over his hitting streak. Justin Thompson comes in second in the Sun Belt Conference with 29 RBI and third with 42 hits. The third baseman also paces TXST with five home runs.
 
Slated to start on the rubber is Trevis Sundgren. It will be his fourth start of the season and first since the Shriners College Classic against TCU. He enters with an 0-2 record, 5.89 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 18.1 innings.
 
ABOUT TEXAS A&M
Texas A&M comes into Tuesday on a six-game losing streak with their last win coming at Missouri on Apr. 1. This past weekend saw the Aggies get swept at home by Alabama.
 
Will Frizzell leads the team with a .365 batting average, 46 hits, 28 RBI, 28 runs, 11 home runs and eight doubles. Also having hit eight doubles is Ray Alejo, who is 11-for-12 stealing bases. Also batting over .300 is Austin Bost at .333 with five home runs, 21 RBI and seven doubles.
 
Slated to start on the mound is Jonathan Childress. The left-hander is 2-4 with a 4.41 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 32.2 innings. He will be making his ninth appearance and eight start of the season.
 
Chandler Jozwiak leads the team with three saves. He is 1-2 with a 3.44 ERA and has struck out 57 over 36.2 innings spanning 16 appearances out of the bullpen. Only twice this season has he not gone at least 1.2 innings in a game.
 
SERIES VS. THE AGGIES
Texas A&M leads the all-time series 44-14. Texas State won the last meeting on Apr. 9, 2019 in College Station by a score of 5-3. All five of the Bobcats' runs came in the first inning that was capped off by a grand slam from John Wuthrich.
 
When hosting the Aggies, TXST is 4-7 all-time. The last game in San Marcos was on Mar. 28, 2017 with TAMU winning 9-3. The last win for Texas State at home was a 4-1 contest on Apr. 23, 2013.
