SAN MARCOS, Texas – Having won three of its last four, Texas State (11-14) travels to Waco to take on Baylor (13-10) Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Thompson is hitting a team-high .354 on the season. He continues to rank second in the Sun Belt Conference with 34 hits and 26 RBI.
Will Hollis shares the team lead of four home runs with
Cole Coffey. Hollis is also third in the conference having drawn 16 walks.
Making his second straight midweek start will be
Zeke Wood. The right-hander allowed a run on five hits and three walks over five innings to pick up the win against Oklahoma. For the season, he is 2-1 with a 4.56 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 23.2 innings.
ABOUT BAYLOR
Baylor enters the game on a four-game losing streak. The Bears lost last Tuesday to UT Arlington and were swept over the weekend by TCU with all four games taking place on the road. At home this season, Baylor is 11-2 with the lone two defeats coming at the hands of Texas.
Five batters are hitting over .300 led by Jared McKenzie at .350. He also leads the team in runs (31), hits (36), triples (2), home runs (6) and slugging percentage (.602) while also driving in 20 runs. Jack Pineda is batting .346 with seven doubles, 13 RBI, 19 runs scored and 16 walks.
Andy Thomas comes in with a team-high 24 RBI and is second having scored 24 times. He is also hitting .310. Also batting over .300 is Kyle Nevin (.324) and Antonio Valdez (.339).
Scheduled to start is Brooks Helmer. The right-hander will be making his season debut. Last year he made on appearance, that coming against Texas State in which he gave up a run on three hits in an inning of work. For his career, Helmer is 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA, four walks and three strikeouts.
Luke Boyd has earned three saves and has a staff-low 1.54 ERA over 11.2 innings spanning 10 games. He has also struck out 18 and walked eight. Kayden Kettler (0-0, 4.76 ERA) has also made 10 relief appearances.
SERIES VS. THE BEARS
The all-time series is in Baylor's favor 51-25. Last time the teams met was Mar. 3, 2020 in Waco with Texas State run-ruling the Bears 12-2 in eight innings. The Bobcats are 18-33 all-time when playing Baylor on the road and have won the last two in Waco.
