SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (9-13, 0-3 Sun Belt) hosts its first Sun Belt Conference series of the season this weekend at Bobcat Ballpark against ULM (9-8, 2-1 Sun Belt).
The series opener on Friday begins at 6 p.m. and first pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday's game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Games on Friday and Sunday will be streamed on ESPN+ with
Brant Freeman and Ty Harrington on the call. An audio broadcast for Saturday's contest will be on KTSW 89.9 FM while live stats will be available for the entire series.

Bobcat pitches held a very strong Oklahoma offense to just two runs on Wednesday that TXST came out victorious 5-2.
Zeke Wood struck out four in five innings while allowing just a run.
Austin Smith and
Trevis Sundgren combined to threw three shutout innings in relief.
Jose Gonzalez and
Justin Thompson both hit their second home runs of the season and
Bryce Bonner recorded his first triple in a Texas State uniform.

Thompson raised his average to .369 with a 2-for-4 day against the Sooners. He ranks second in the conference with 31 hits and 23 RBI. The third baseman also leads the team with six doubles. Both
Tucker Redden (.333) and Gonzalez (.300) are batting .300 or better.

Zachary Leigh is scheduled to start on Friday and enters the game 0-3 with a 6.66 ERA and 32 strikeouts that is tied for the third most in the Sun Belt. Slated to take the rubber on Saturday is
Cameron Bush. The right-hander comes in 1-2 with a 5.91 ERA and has struck out 18.
Garrett Herrmann is scheduled to make his second straight Sunday start and enters the series 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA and 12 strikeouts over 12 innings.

ABOUT ULM
ULM is coming off a 9-7 loss at Louisiana Tech on Tuesday. Last weekend, the Warhawks began conference play by winning two of three at home over Georgia State.

Four batters are hitting over .300 led by Ryan Humeniuk at .349. Michael Cervantes comes in batting .324 and Trace Henry is hitting .313. Mason Holt has a .309 batting average with a team-high three homers, 20 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.

The Warhawks are 37-for-45 stealing bases this season with nine players having swiped a bag. Only other players with more than three steals other than Holt are Henry (6) and Humeniuk (7).

Cam Barlow will start on Friday on the mound. The left-hander is 2-2 with a 5.29 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 17 innings. Ty Barnes is 1-1 with 18 strikeouts, 4.43 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in a team-high 20.1 innings and will get the ball on Saturday. Left-hander Tyler Lien is slated to start Sunday. He comes in with a 3-0 record, 5.00 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 18 innings while allowing opponents to hit .301 off him.

SERIES VS. THE WARHAWKS
Texas State leads the all-time series 46-35 over ULM. Last time the teams met was May 22, 2019 in the Sun Belt Championship held in Conway, South Carolina and saw the Warhawks win 8-0 that night. The last regular season series was Mar. 22-24, 2019 in San Marcos that was swept by the Bobcats.

When hosting ULM, TXST is 26-15 all-time. The last loss to the Warhawks at home was the series opener on Apr. 13, 2017 by a score of 6-5. Texas State has won five straight home series. The last time the Bobcats dropped a home series to ULM was Apr. 3-4, 2004.
