The Bobcats had an explosive offensive weekend but only came away with one victory against Houston. The second game of the series saw TXST tie the program's single-game record of seven home runs with three coming off the bat of
Cole Coffey. His three homers tied the Texas State game record and he was the fourth player in Bobcat history to accomplish the feat.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Justin Thompson continues to lead the team in batting average (.400), hits (26) and RBI (18). His hit total ranks as the eighth most in the nation.
Will Hollis comes in with a .306 batting average as he recorded two base knocks in all four games last week. The senior outfielder leads the Bobcats in runs scored (12), home runs (4) and walks (12).

Dalton Shuffield raised their batting averages to .290 and .286, respectively.
Johnny Gonzales heads into the game having hit a homer in back-to-back contests.

Garrett Herrmann is scheduled to start against the Owls. He is 1-0 with a 7.20 ERA and five strikeouts over five innings this season. Wednesday will be his fourth career start against Rice. For his career versus the Owls, he is 1-0 with a 1.84 ERA, 18 strikeouts and four walks in 14.2 innings.

ABOUT RICE
Rice is coming off a weekend in which it won three of four games with two victories over Northern Illinois and one against Kansas State. Wednesday's contest is one of just two road games for the Owls over a 15-game stretch.

Bradley Gneiting leads Rice with a .345 average, 19 hits, three doubles, three home runs, 13 RBI and a .564 SLG%. Also batting over .300 is Braden Comeaux at .327.

SERIES VS. THE OWLS
The all-time series favors Rice, 61-20, but the Bobcats have had the Owls' number having won the last six meetings. Wednesday is the second game between the teams with the first taking place on Mar. 7 as the finale of the Shriners College Classic with TXST winning 9-1.

When hosting Rice, Texas State is 10-15 all-time but have won the last four. Last season, the Bobcats won 9-2 in San Marcos.
