2021 Baseball & Softball Attendance Policy

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State Athletics Department announced several COVID-19 safety measures fans will need to follow to combat the impact of COVID-19 when attending home games this Spring at Bobcat Ballpark and Bobcat Softball Stadium.
 
"These guidelines have been successfully implemented through the fall and winter, maintaining the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, game officials, fans, staff and visiting teams will continue to be used for the baseball and softball seasons," said Director of Athletics Larry Teis. "Our goal remains; to provide the safest gameday environment possible."
 
TICKETING
Due to limited capacity, Texas State Athletics has determined that all seats at Bobcat Ballpark and Softball Stadium will be reserved tickets to help social distance between parties. Fans are required to sit in their assigned seats throughout the event. Attendance for both baseball and softball games will be limited to season ticket holders, teams' pass lists, students and a limited amount of single game tickets.
 
Single game tickets will go on-sale a week before the game. The athletic department will continue to look for opportunities to increase capacities as the COVID situation allows in the weeks ahead.

The limited number of student tickets for each game will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Texas State student will swipe their ID and receive a reserved ticket with a specific seat assignment at the entrance for free admittance into baseball and softball games.
 
Gates will open at baseball 90 minutes before first pitch and at softball one hour prior to first pitch.

Call the Texas State Ticket Office at 512-245-2272 or email at gametickets@txstate.edu to purchase season tickets now. Also contact the ticket office with any questions regarding facility capacities, contactless ticketing or student tickets.
 
FACILITIES CAPACITY
Attendance for games at Bobcat Ballpark and Bobcat Softball Stadium will be limited to 35% of capacity to start the season. Texas State will communicate any changes to Bobcat fans if the capacity shifts for the remaining home games.
 
Due to COVID-19, we have made an effort to create a socially distant atmosphere inside Bobcat Ballpark and Bobcat Softball Stadium. A 15-foot barrier will be enforced around the dugouts and bullpens, and every other row will be blocked off in the general admission seats.
 
At Bobcat Ballpark, standing room will be available on both the left and right field sides behind the 15-foot barrier. Standing room at softball will be available on the right field side.
 
CLEANING AND DISINFECTING
Keeping the facilities clean and high touch surfaces disinfected is top priority for the 2021 season. Texas State will follow CDC guidelines and deploy an amplified cleaning team focused on making sure the facilities are clean and safe for everyone. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the stadium and patrons to utilize as desired.
 
STAFF REQUIREMENTS
All game day personnel are required to follow strict guidelines to protect the health of Bobcat patrons and staff once they enter. Staff members are subject to pre-screening health questionnaire and temperature check. While within the facility, all game day staff will be required to wear facial coverings and frequently wash or sanitize hands when they are not wearing gloves.
 
CONCESSIONS
Only bottled beverages and high-demand, fan favorite food items will be available for purchase to increase speed of service.
 
ESPN+ AND OTHER COVERAGE
For those unable to attend home baseball and softball games, a number of contests will be streamed on ESPN+ via the ESPN app on any mobile device. Select games can also be heard on the radio at KTSW 89.9FM or stream through KTSW's website at KTSW.txstate.edu. Available games will be listed on the baseball and softball schedule pages at TXST.com. or made available by searching @txstatebobcats on your favorite social media platform. SYMPTOM SCREENING BEFORE ATTENDING GAMES
Before coming to either facility for games, we ask that spectators perform a self-assessment based on CDC best practices and recommendations and stay home if sick. People who are at higher risk for complications from COVID-19 are strongly encouraged not to attend live events. Symptoms to watch for include:
 
  • Fever (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) or higher
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Vomiting
 
FACE COVERING
All fans attending games are required to wear face coverings that completely cover the nose and mouth upon entry into Bobcat Ballpark and Bobcat Softball Stadium and when they are not in their seat. Fans are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings while in their seats.
 
Per CDC guidelines, face coverings should not be worn by children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitate or otherwise unable to remove face coverings without assistance.
