Softball Travels to Baylor Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State softball team (7-2) will be on the road for the second time in three weeks when the Bobcats travel to Waco, Texas, and play in the Baylor Invitational on Feb. 21-23 at Getterman Stadium. Texas State will play two games against No. 17-ranked Minnesota (5-4), Illinois (5-3), Baylor (8-2), and Tulsa (8-1).
 
Texas State is facing a nationally-ranked team in Minnesota, and will play three other teams (Illinois, Baylor, and Tulsa) who are receiving votes in national polls at the tournament. .
 
The Bobcats open the tournament on Feb. 21 with games against Minnesota at 9 a.m. and Illinois at 1:30 p.m. Texas State battles Minnesota again at 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 22 before facing Baylor, at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 22. The Bobcats close out the tournament playing against Tulsa at 1 p.m. on Feb. 23.

BOBCAT SCRATCHES
Texas State head coach Ricci Woodard is her 20th season at the school with a career record of 677-422-1. She has led the Bobcats to 12 conference championships and eight NCAA Regional appearances. Woodard has developed 82 All-Conference selections, 26 All-Region players, five NFCA All-Americans, and three CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
 
After opening the 2020 season, splitting four games in the NFCA Leadoff Classic, Texas State enters the Baylor Invitational having won five straight games in the Bobcat Classic last weekend. Texas State won a 5-4 decision over UTSA and beat both Saint Louis and Wichita State twice in the tournament.
 
Senior Dalilah Barrera has a 2-0 record this season with a 2.07 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 20.1 innings. She was chosen to the NFCA All-Tournament Team after posting a 1-0 record and a 2.40 ERA in two starts. She also had a complete game victory when she held Wichita State to one run in five innings last Sunday.
 
Freshman Tori McCann leads Texas State with a 3-1 record on the mound after an impressive showing in the Bobcat Classic. McCann pitched a complete seven-inning game against Saint Louis and had a 6.2 outing against Wichita State.
 
Tara Oltmann has started all nine of Texas State's games this season. She has hit for a .385 average with 10 RBIs, two home runs, a double and six runs scored. Oltmann was selected to the 2019 Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference squad after ranking fourth in the league in RBIs (41), seventh in doubles (11, and eighth in stolen bases (16) in 2019.
 
ArieAnn Bell enters the Baylor Invitational ranked sixth nationally with five home runs and ninth nationally in home runs per game (0.56). Bell has started all nine games and is hitting .286 with 21 total bases.
