ABOUT TEXAS STATE
TXST split a weather-shortened two-game series against Appalachian State over the weekend after dropping a mid-week matchup with No. 11 Texas in Austin. The Bobcat offense struggled in the three games and scored only three runs on 14 hits. The loss against the Mountaineers snapped a seven-game win streak against Sun Belt Conference opponents.
Junior outfielder
Christiana McDowell has cooled off at the plate lately but continues to produce from the leadoff position. She ranks sixth among conference leaders with a batting average of .395 and an on-base percentage of .493. She leads the Bobcats with 45 hits, 61 total bases, and 16 stolen bases.
Junior catcher
Haleigh Davis has struck out once in every 24.5 plate appearances this season. That figure ranks as the third best in the conference and No. 36 nationally. She is second on the Bobcats with a batting average of .296. Sophomore infielder
Tara Oltmann leads TXST with nine doubles and 28 runs batted in. She is third in the conference in two-baggers and eighth in RBI.
Sophomore pitcher
Meagan King (12-8) has won eight consecutive decisions and carries a team-best 3.14 earned run average. She leads the Cats with 104.2 innings in the circle through 22 appearances and 16 starts. King is one of seven pitchers in the conference to toss over 100.0 innings and sits fifth in ERA and opposing batting average.
ABOUT UTSA
The Roadrunners defeated the Bobcats by a score of 3-2 to open the 2019 season. Since then, the team has been inconsistent. UTSA ranks in the bottom third of the C-USA standings in team batting average (.232), team ERA (5.02), and fielding percentage (.950).
Junior outfielder Celeste Loughman leads the Runners with a .328 batting average and 42 total hits this season. She is the best base-stealing threat on the roster as well with successful swipes in 11-of-12 attempts. Senior outfielder Bailee Baldwin has 36 hits on the season (.300) with 18 going for extra bases. She has slugged six doubles, four triples, and eight home runs on the season.
Sophomore pitcher Madison Nelson (7-11) was excellent in her start against the Bobcats in the season-opener. She went the first 6.0 innings and allowed one earned run (two total runs) on four hits and a pair of walks.
ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA
Despite ranking among the bottom in the Sun Belt Conference in team batting average (.253), the Chanticleers rank first in home runs (59), second in doubles (41), second in triples (six), and second in runs scored (187). CCU ranks eighth nationally in round-trippers.
Sophomore outfielder Courtney Dean leads CCU with a batting average of .342. She has smacked a team-high 12 home runs and is responsible for 33 runs batted in. She leads the league in homers and ranks second in RBI.
Sophomore infielder Taylor Sweigart is hitting .313 on the season and is second on the team with 30 hits. Junior catcher Kassidy Smith ranks second on the Chants with 11 home runs. She claimed Sun Belt Player of the Week honors on April 2.
Sophomore Kaitlin Beasley-Polko (19-6) is the unquestioned ace of the Coastal pitching staff. She leads the team in innings pitched (153.2), earned run average (2.23), wins (19), and strikeouts (134). Polko is a two-time Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week.
