SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State track and field teams are heating up at the right time as they dominated its regular season finale by winning first place on both sides. The men tallied 301 points and the women registered 237 points, racking up a total of 22 victories, 20 improved top 10 Sun Belt Conference marks, seven new top 10 marks, and one newly established school record by junior

Day one saw seven victories, one top 10 marks and one program record. Romero's first-place time of 10:50.70 in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase shattered the previous record by more than two seconds and she moves up to No. 4 in the conference. Sophomore
Cade Michael won the same event on the men's side, clocking in at 9:36.22, a time that enters the top 10 at No. 8. Fellow classmate
Ronnie Briscoe remains at No. 3 in the conference after tying his season-best in the men's long jump for first-place (7.53m, 24-8.50) and junior
Jaylon Jorge took the top slot in the men's hammer throw behind a 56.49-meter throw (185-4), ranking 6th in the Sun Belt. Other winners in the meet opener includes junior
Sarah Godfrey in the women's 5,000-meter run (18:39.95), sophomore
Owen McGlothlin in the men's 5,000-meter run (15:20.93), and junior
Ben Collerton in the men's pole vault (4.30m, 14-1.25).
Texas State continued to roll on day two, garnering 15 more victories and six top 10 marks. Senior
Tramesha Hardy put together a number of great performances, highlighted by a 22.72 time in the women's 200-meter dash, marking the fastest time in the Sun Belt Conference this season. She also ran an 11:46 in the 100-meter dash (second-place), entering the top 10 of the league at No. 2 and No. 7 in the program's record book. Anayah Washington, took first-place in the women's 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.57, remaining No. 3 in Sun Belt. Individually, Giles entered the top 10 rankings with a fourth-place 23.57 time in the women's 200-meter dash (No. 3 in the Sun Belt).
Junior
Devina Schneider clocked a 4:31.15 in the women's 1,500-meter run for a first-place finish. The mark sits No. 3 in both the Sun Belt and the school's record book. Senior
Kyle Denomme took time off his collegiate best in the men's 800-meter run with a 1:50.20 first-place time, and junior
Michale Reyes stopped the clock at 53.09 to win the 400-meter hurdles. Both improve their top 10 mark to No. 2. Freshman
Kattiana Ealy-Pulido won the 400-meter hurdles event on the women's side, timing out at 1:01.01 moving her mark to No. 3 in the conference. Sophomore
Bobby Smith launched the discus 51.91m (170-4) to win the event on the men's side to remain at No. 4 in the Sun Belt, while sophomore
Jaylen Allen high steps his way into the top 10 of the conference in the men's 200-meter dash after winning the event with a time of 21.22 (No. 5 in the Sun Belt).
Freshman
Katherine Stuckly moves up in the top 10 and now sits No. 8 in the women's high jump after clearing 1.73m (5-8) for first-place, while classmate
Tina Douglas tied for third in the same event and grabbed the No. 10 spot in the conference after jumping 1.65m (5-5). Collerton won his second event of the meet with a 14.51 time in the 110-meter hurdles (No. 9 in the Sun Belt).
The remainder of event winners consist of senior
T'Mond Johnson (men's shot put – 18.91m, 62-.50), junior
Zhafear Ray (men's high jump – 1.95m, 6-4.75), freshman
Dereck Elkins (men's 1,500-meter run – 3:58.82), sophomore
Tina Sierra (women's 800-meter run – 2:16.53), and Herring (men's triple jump – 15.01m, 49-3).
The final two marks to enter the top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference consist of junior
Labryae Jackson who jumped an 11.85m (38-10.50) mark in the women's triple jump for fifth place (No. 8 in the Sun Belt), and sophomore
Javlyn Cameron who also placed fifth-place in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.00 (No. 9 in the Sun Belt).
The Bobcats now turn their focus towards the 2019 Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Arkansas State May 10-12 in Jonesboro, Ark.
