Women's Tennis Travels To Coastal Carolina and App State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team embarks on its final road trip of the 2019 regular season this weekend when the Bobcats play a pair of Sun Belt Conference dual matches at Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State. The Bobcats venture to Conway, S.C. for a contest at Coastal Carolina on Friday before traveling to Boone, N.C. to battle Appalachian State on Sunday. Both matches begin at 9 a.m. (Central).
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Texas State (6-11, 2-6 in Sun Belt) split its last two matches with a 4-0 victory against Arkansas State on April 6 and a 4-0 loss against UT Arlington on April 9 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.  Senior Ana Perez owns a 10-6 record in No. 1 singles matches and has a 6-6 mark in doubles matches. She and Julia Navajo-Melendez are 5-5 as a doubles team, and Perez is 1-1 when teaming with Joy Chia Ming Ming. This marks the third time in her career that Perez has logged double-digit win totals in singles dual matches.
 
Rishona Israel-Lewis will be looking to become the second Texas State player to record 10 or more wins this season as she enters the Coastal Carolina match with a 9-6 record in No. 2 singles. Israel-Lewis has more than doubled her win total from last season when she had four wins in No. dual matches. She and Chia Ming Ming have combined for a 3-2 record in No. 2 doubles matches this spring.
 
SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
Coastal Carolina (13-7, 6-2 Sun Belt) enters Friday's match as the third-place team in the Sun Belt standings after winning its last four conference matches. The Chanticleers picked up a pair of wins against Georgia State on April 6 and Georgia Southern on April 7. Coastal began its winning streak with victories at ULM on Mar. 29 and at Louisiana on Mar. 30.
 
Somer Dalla Bona is this week's the Sun Belt's Player of the Week after winning a pair of No. 3 singles matches and teaming with Jennifer Brown for two No. 1 doubles. She enters Friday's match with a 12-2 overall record, 12-0 in No. 3 singles matches. Brown has an 8-1 mark in No. 2 singles and is 10-4 overall. Viktorija Demcenkova has a 7-5 record in No. 1 singles.
 
SCOUTING APPALACHIAN STATE
Appalachian State  (14-7, 7-1 Sun Belt) enters Friday's match against UT Arlington tied with South Alabama for first place in the Sun Belt standings with a 7-1 record after sweeping a pair of matches against Georgia Southern and Georgia State last Friday and Sunday. The Mountaineers have a 10-2 record in home matches this season.
 
Seniors Heidi Swope, Rebecca Morse and Jeannez Daniel lead the Mountaineers this season. Swope has a career-high 12 wins in No. 5 and No. 6 matches. Daniel is second with 10 victories while playing in No. 2, 3, and 4 singles. Morse is tied for third with her 8-6 record. Daniel and Morse have combined for a 7-1 mark in No. 3 doubles.
