SAN MARCOS, Texas – Freshman
Live Hilton logged a pair top 10 marks in the Sun Belt Conference, including a league-leading mark in the women's long jump to lead the Texas State track and field teams as they combined for 24 top 10 Sun Belt Conference marks highlighted by three conference-leading results last weekend. At the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, the Bobcats recorded six marks in the top 10 of the league and one that paces the conference, while the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos featured 18 top marks for the Maroon and Gold and added the final two league-leading marks.
Bobcat Invitational
Hilton had an impressive weekend at the Bobcat Invitational and now sits atop all Sun Belt competitors in the women's long jump with a 6.20-meter leap (20-4.25), a mark that placed second at the meet and tied for ninth in the school's record book. Hilton also turned in the fifth fastest time in the conference with a 24.53-second time in the 200-meter dash. Sophomore
Tina Sierra finished second-place in the women's 5,000-meter run, stopping the clock at a conference-best 17:17.24. The time also ranks No. 7 in program history.
Texas Relays
At the relays, senior
Ben Collerton cashed in on 7,218 points in the men's decathlon to finish seventh overall. Collerton won the discus throw (43.27m; 141-11) and the high jump (2.04m; 6-8.25). His total points not only lead the Sun Belt, but also ranks No. 6 in the school's record book.
Steady Improving
In addition to the 24 total top 10 marks, junior
Naomi Ferdinand, junior
Michale Reyes, and sophomore
Javlyn Cameron all improved on their marks that were already featured in the top 10 of the conference. Ferdinand ranks No. 2 in the women's long jump after placing fifth with a 6.14-meter jump (20-1.75) at the Bobcat Invitational. Her jump was a .8-meter increase from the Roadrunner Invitational March 22-23). Reyes shaved off more than one second on his time in the men's 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 53.83 seconds for a fifth-place finish. The time is now tied at No. 3 in the Sun Belt. Cameron has the sixth fastest time in the women's 100-meter hurdles among Sun Belt competitors with a time of 14.30 seconds, .12 seconds faster than the time she ran on March 22-23 in San Antonio.

The Bobcats have a week off from competition before returning to the track at the Texas A&M Invitational on April 12-13 in College Station.
