HOUSTON – The 2019 Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic was announced Tuesday afternoon and was highlighted by Texas State's Nicholas Fraze being selected as the Classic's Most Outstanding Player. He was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Jaylen Hubbard and Jaxon Williams.
 
Fraze tossed 7.0 shutout inning on Friday against Rice. He fanned a career-high 12 batters, becoming the first TXST hurler since 2017 to reach double-digit strikeouts, while allowing two walks. The junior right-hander carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in the Bobcats 1-0 win.
 
Hubbard led all players on the all-tournament squad with a .455 batting average with a 5-for-11 performance at the plate. Two of his hits were triples to give him nine in his career and move into a tie for eighth on the career list. The senior third baseman also scored three runs, drove in two runs and walked twice.
 
In the field, Hubbard made some outstanding plays including a diving stop on a rocket shot late against Baylor.
 
Williams hit .333 (4-for-12 and scored three runs. The junior second baseman's best game was on Saturday against Houston. He went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored. The Rosenberg, Texas native topped it off with a two-run home run that hit the signs over the Crawford Boxes in left field.
 
TXST plays at UTSA today at 4 p.m. and return to Bobcat Ballpark for a 6:30 p.m. contest against Incarnate Word on Wednesday.
