GETTING MORA AT THE TOP
Mora, a senior and the No. 245 golfer in the country according to GolfStat.com, has been a force in the Bobcat lineup over the last three seasons. Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Mora has placed inside the top-25 a total of 16 times and has seven top-10 finishes and four top-5 finishes to her credit. She collected her first collegiate victory at the UTRGV Invitational. Mora has had every round of her career count for the team score.
NOTHING WONG WITH THAT
Wong, a transfer from Central Arkansas, turned in her best outing of the spring season at the UTRGV Invitational with a t-5th place finish. The tournament marked the fourth time in her brief TXST career in which Wong has ranked first or second among Bobcat scorers. Her three-round total of 227 (7-over) was the second-best Bobcat card of the weekend. Wong has two top-20 finishes to her name this season.
CARRYING THE BAG
The Texas State women's golf program is dedicating the 2018-19 season to former Texas State graduate student Darryn Deen Andrews, a United States Army 2nd Lieutenant killed after his unit was ambushed while serving in Pakitika Province, Afghanistan on Sept. 4, 2009. In every tournament this season, a Bobcat will carry a special bag to honor 2nd Lieutenant Andrews. Wong will carry the bag at the Mountain View Collegiate.
"Geraldine is carrying Darryn's bag this week," Strom said. "She showed willingness to give a little more after practice and be coachable over the last 10 days."
LAST TIME OUT
Texas State, led by an individual medal from Mora, finished with runner-up honors at the UTRGV Invitational with a 54-hole score of 899 (289-307-303, +15) at the McAllen Country Club.
