SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team opens Sun Belt Conference play this weekend on the road against South Alabama at Stanky Field. Both Friday's and Saturday's game will begin at 6:30 p.m. while Sunday's contest is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

Heading into the weekend, the Bobcats are 11-6 overall after defeating Rice Wednesday night 5-0 on the road. The Jaguars are 8-6 and saw their four-game winning streak come to an end with a 6-2 defeat against 17th-ranked Auburn on Tuesday.

A free video stream and live stats will be available for all three games. There won't be a radio broadcast for Friday's contest. Radio for Saturday and Sunday's games will depend on the results of the men's basketball team's result in the Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinals Friday night.

Scouting Texas State
Texas State is 4-0 in true road games this season. The Bobcats are one of three, along with Alabama and N.C. State, that are still undefeated and has played at least three true road contests.

Jaylen Hubbard paces TXST with a .368 batting average, 25 hits, 20 runs scored, four triples and a .588 slugging percentage. His triple total is tied for the nation's lead with four other players.

Will Hollis is hitting .347 with a team-high 12 RBIs, 13 walks and .500 on-base percentage. He enters having reached base in 11 consecutive games, the longest active streak on the team.

Dalton Shuffield (.317) and
Jaxon Williams (.338). Williams has scored 19 runs while Shuffield leads all Bobcats with four stolen bases.

Kyle Bradford has made a team-high eight appearances out of the bullpen. He sports a 0.93 ERA in 9.2 innings of work along with five strikeouts. Both
Brent Hebert (1-1, 1.93 ERA, 6 K) and
Brandon Lewis (0-0, 2 SV, 8 K) have made seven relief appearances.

Scouting South Alabama
South Alabama has played 11 straight games at home. The Jaguars' lone road games came the opening weekend of the season when they played a three-game series at then 16th-ranked Clemson.

Ethan Wilson leads the team and Sun Belt with a .440 batting average. He also paces the squad with 22 hits, four home runs, 16 runs scored, 19 RBIs, 11 walks and three stolen bases.

Wells Davis has hit four homers with 13 RBIs and Felix Aberouette has added three home runs and driven in 12 runs. Carter Perkins is the only other USA player with double-digit runs scored (10) and RBI (10).

Zach Greene has thrown 10.1 innings of relief over six appearances and has earned two saves. He has given up two runs but neither of them were earned. The senior right-hander is also third on the team with 15 strikeouts.

Making five appearances out of the pen has been Nick DeSantis and Tyler Perez. DeSantis is 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA, one save and has struck out 14 in 11.1 innings. Perez sports a 2.45 ERA and four strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work.

South Alabama leads the all-time series 12-3. Last season saw Texas State drop two of three at home with victory coming in the series finale by the score of 5-2. Prior to that win, the Jaguars had won eight straight meetings.

The Bobcats have won just once in Mobile in six contests. That win came on Mar. 22, 2015 by the score of 8-7. This weekend will be the first time the teams have met to being Sun Belt play.
