SAN MARCOS, Texas – Five consecutive road games for the Texas State baseball team starts off with a trip to Houston on Wednesday. The Bobcats will take on Rice at 6:30 p.m. at Reckling Park.

Entering the game, TXST is 10-6 on the season after dropping two of three at home to UConn over the weekend. The Owls have a 7-10 record and will be hosting Lamar Tuesday night before facing the Bobcats.

Scouting Texas State
On the road this season, Texas State is 3-0 with two wins over McNeese and one against I-35 rival UTSA. The team is 2-1 in midweek contests this season with both wins coming last week over Incarnate Word and the Roadrunners.

Jaylen Hubbard leads the Bobcats with a .375 batting average, 24 hits, 19 runs scored, four triples and a .609 slugging percentage. He has added nine RBIs, four doubles and a .488 on-base percentage.

Will Hollis comes in hitting .364 with a team leading 12 RBIs, 13 walks and .525 on-base percentage. The junior outfielder has reached base in his last five plate appearances.

Also batting over .300 are
Dalton Shuffield (.304) and
Jaxon Williams (.339). Williams has scored 17 runs while Shuffield leads all Bobcats with three stolen bases.

Garrett Herrmann has made a midweek start the past two weeks. He is 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA with six strikeouts in 9.0 innings.
Kyle Bradford has appeared in a team-high seven games on the mound. The senior right-hander sports a 1.04 ERA with five strikeouts in 8.2 innings. He has also thrown in both of TXST's shutouts this season.

Scouting Rice
Rice is coming off a 1-2 weekend at home against Oklahoma. The Owls won the series opener 8-1 before falling 17-8 in game two and 6-0 in the series finale.

Bradley Gneiting leads Rice with a .360 batting average and 27 hits while also driving in 10 runs and scoring 14 times. Both Braden Comeaux (.338) and Cade Edwards (.306) are hitting over .300 and are 3-for-3 stealing bases. Comeaux is second on the team with 16 runs scored while Edwards is tied for the lead with two triples.

Trei Cruz enters the week pacing the Owls in RBI (22), runs scored (17), home runs (5) and errors (10). The sophomore shortstop is batting .290 with 20 hits, two of which are triples.

Andrew Dunlap has driven in 17 runs behind four doubles and three homers.

Rice leads the all-time series 54-15 after Texas State defeated the Owls 1-0 in the opening game of the Shriners College Classic on Mar. 1 in Minute Maid Park. Wednesday is the second of three meetings between the teams this season.
