BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Texas State track and field teams had a productive weekend at the Jaguar Invitational that featured 10 wins, four new meet records and one new school record set by junior
Devina Schneider in the women's mile run at the Crossplex.
In the team standings, the Bobcat women took first place, collecting 184 points to beat out three nationally ranked teams. The men eclipsed second place with 113 points with three wins on the day.
"It was a great weekend," head coach
Jody Stewart said. "Both teams competed well. We are currently competing at our best at the right time of the season and bringing good momentum into the [Sun Belt] conference championships."

The Bobcats first win of the meet came from Schneider who bested her own school record and set a new South Alabama meet record with a first-place finish of 4:52.88 in the women's mile run for 10 points. The time serves as the best time in the Sun Belt Conference. Schneider also tacked on another six points after running the 800-meter run in 2:16.65 for third place.
Junior
Naomi Ferdinand's first-place leap of 5.94m (19-6.00) in the women's long jump (10 points) is a new meet record and put her in a tie for seventh in Texas State's program history. Ferdinand later scored six points in the triple jump with an 11.69m (38-4.25) mark for third place.
Freshman
Pedro Osorio Lopez set the third meet record of the afternoon for TXST by winning the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.25 (10 points).
Senior
Tramesha Hardy ran a first-place time of 23.81s in the women's 200-meter dash (10 points), setting the final South Alabama meet record on the day for the Bobcats
. Freshman
Sadi Giles finished behind Hardy in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.87s for eight points after she won the 60-meter dash (7.62s- 10 points) earlier in the meet.
Senior
Dawnshae Evans took first place (10 points) in the women's 400-meter dash by stopping the clock at 56.74s and later scored three points in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.26s (sixth place).

Breonna Hall capped off the meet with 10 more points. The unit crossed the finish line at 3:47.62, which is the best time in the Sun Belt Conference.
Sophomore
Brandon Busby won the men's weight throw (10 points) with a mark of 18.23m (59-9.75) and cashed in on five points in the men's shot put (16.50m; 54-1.75).
Senior
T'Mond Johnson scored 10 points with a first-place 18.52m (60-9.25) launch in the men's shot put that now ranks sixth in the school's record book. The Killeen, Texas native also scored three points in the weight throw with a mark of 17.23m (56-6.50).

Dereck Elkins' second-place time of 4:13.67 in the men's mile run is the fourth fastest time in the school's record book…
Tina Douglas' jump of 1.74m (5-8.50) in the women's high jump tied the South Alabama event record entering the meet.
