SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team will return home for a brief one-game stint against UTRGV. The Bobcats (17-14-1, 5-7 SBC) will play host to UTRGV (16-16, 3-3 WAC) at 6 p.m. April 10 at Bobcat Ballpark.
TXST is 44-20 all-time against UTRGV, which includes a 6-2 mark in the last eight meetings. The Bobcats edged out an 11-9 victory over UTRGV in last year's lone meeting in San Marcos.
A LOOK AT TEXAS STATE
•   Texas State is currently 17-14-1 this after losing a three-game series at ULM this past weekend.
•   The Bobcats opened the series with an 8-2 triumph but went on to lose the series.
•   Senior
Dylan Paul leads TXST in batting average overall this season, as he is hitting .311 (38-for-122).
•   Senior
Derek Scheible is the team leader in RBIs (24), home runs (8) and runs scored (26).
•   Texas State has dropped each of its last three weekend series and is 2-7 in conference games since sweeping Appalachian State in the first week of league play.
A LOOK AT UTRGV
•   UTRGV enters Tueday's game against Texas State sporting a 16-16 overall record. The team is also 3-3 in the Western Athletic Conference.
•   UTRGV is currently on a six-game losing skid, with all six matchups coming on the road. The team is 3-9 on the road in 2018.
•   Coleman Grubbs paces the team with a .331 batting average. Elijah Alexander (.327) is the only other member of the team batting above .300.
•   Alexander, Anthony Gomez and Tyler Torres are all tied atop the team leaderboard with 20 runs scored, while Torres and Ivan Estrella both have a team-high three home runs. Austin Siener leads UTRGV with 20 RBIs.
WEATHER WREAKING HAVOC ON TXST
•   Weather has played a role in all but two weekend series for Texas State in 2018.
•   The opening three-game set against Oklahoma State went off without a hitch, but since then the Bobcats have been unable to finish a series unaltered by weather.
•   TXST had a 58-minute rain delay early in a 1-0 loss to McNeese State on Feb. 25.
•   A contest on March 3 against Stephen F. Austin was halted after five innings of play due to persistent rain showers, and the game was finished on March 4 with Texas State winning 6-3.
•   Action at UC Santa Barbara never got underway March 10 thanks to heavy rainfall, and the game was moved to a doubleheader March 11. The Bobcats won the first game 6-5, and the two sides tied 4-4 in the series finale due to travel constraints.
•   Play was halted in the sixth inning for 1 hour, 24 minutes on March 17 against Appalachian State due to rain/lightning. TXST would go on to capture a 3-2 victory.
•   The start time for a March 23 bout against Coastal Carolina was pushed up one hour due to cold temperatures in Conway. The series finale was then played as a day-night doubleheader March 24 due to rain in the March 25 forecast.
•   Heavy rain showers on April 6 in Monroe forced the weekend series to be pushed back one day. The series started April 7 and a doubleheader was played on April 8. ULM won the series two games to one.
