PREVIEW: Texas State Hosts UTSA in Midweek Clash

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State University softball team (35-10, 15-2 SBC) will host the UTSA Roadrunners (18-24, 6-12 C-USA) in the team's final midweek of the 2018 season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Bobcat Softball Stadium.

Last Time Out for the Bobcats
• No. 23 Texas State bounced back from a tough weekend in Louisiana to win four games during the past week, including a road victory over Incarnate Word and a home sweep of ULM.
Randi Rupp was dynamic throughout the week. She earned a trio of victories and slammed the door shut on ULM to earn her fourth save of the season in Sunday's series finale. In total, she pitched 20.2 innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out 25 batters.
• Offensively, Haleigh Davis was 6-for-8 at the dish, including a triple on Sunday against the Warhawks. Davis also scored one run and was a perfect 20-for-20 in fielding opportunities.
• Texas State recorded four home runs over the past week, getting blasts from Bailee Carter, Hailey MacKay, Ariel Ortiz and Tara Oltmann.

Texas State Hosts Archrival UTSA
• The Bobcats will square off with UTSA for the second time this season on Tuesday evening. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. from Bobcat Softball Stadium.
               Inside the Series
• The Bobcats narrowly trail the Roadrunners in the all-time series between the two schools. TXST has won 41 contests while UTSA has secured 42 victories in the rivalry.
• The Bobcats earned a decisive 7-1 victory on February 28 of this season. The second game of the season series was originally scheduled for March 28, but a rainout forced the game to be postponed until Tuesday night.
• Offensively, the Cats took advantage of some sloppy defense played by the Roadrunners, scoring seven runs in the top of the fifth inning to take control of the game.
• Ortiz singled down the right field line with the bases loaded, three Bobcats scored on an error from UTSA's right fielder.
• Rupp earned the win for the visiting Bobcats after allowing just one earned run through seven complete innings of work. The senior struck out seven batters in the game.
