SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team will play its 10th game at home when the maroon and gold hosts Rice for a midweek clash. The Bobcats (6-4) and Owls (5-6) will lock up at 6:30 p.m. March 6 at Bobcat Ballpark.

Rice leads the all-time series 54-14, which includes an 8-6 victory in Houston earlier this season. The maroon and gold split last season's series with the Owls, snapping a nine-game losing skid in the process.

A LOOK AT TEXAS STATE
•    Texas State boasts a 6-4 mark after sweeping a home series from Stephen F. Austin this past weekend.
•    Senior Dylan Paul led the Bobcats at the plate with a .545 average (6-for-11). He scored four times and hit a walkoff triple in the series finale.
•    Paul also leads TXST in batting average overall this season, as he is hitting .425 (17-for-40).
•    The Texas State pitching staff boasted a 2.00 ERA and held the Lumberjacks to a .136 batting average.
•    The maroon and gold had a midweek game against Baylor postponed due to poor field conditions at Baylor Ballpark. That has been rescheduled for 6:35 p.m. April 2 in Waco.

A LOOK AT RICE
•    The Owls (5-6) opened 2018 with wins over Samford and UCF, and a shutout loss to Virginia.
•    They were swept at Stanford after toppling TXST, and they also earned a series victory over Houston Baptist this past weekend.
•    The Owls posted a 33-31 record a year ago and won the Conference USA Championship.
•    Rice picked up a pair of victories over Texas Southern and Southeastern Louisiana in the Baton Rouge Regional before falling to host LSU.
•    Matt Canterino was named to the NCBWA Preseason All-American Third Team and the preseason All-Conference USA Team.
•    Joining Canterino on the preseason All-CUSA Team were Dominic DiCaprio and Ford Proctor.
•    Rice was selected to finish second in the 2018 C-USA standings in a preseason poll of the conference's head coaches.

TXST SELECTED TO COMPETE IN 2019 SHRINERS CLASSIC
•    The Texas State baseball team is set to join a loaded field for the 2019 Shriners Hospital for Children College Classic, the Houston Astros announced March 5.
•    The tournament will be contested March 1-3, 2019, at Minute Maid Park and feature an all-Texas field of Baylor, Houston, Rice, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas State.
•    The 19th annual event will feature nine games between the six programs.
•    The official times and dates of each game will be announced at a later time.
