SAN MARCOS, Texas – The No. 30-ranked Texas State baseball team heads to UTSA and hosts Incarnate Word in a pair of midweek tilts.

The Bobcats (13-4-1, 3-0 SBC) will travel to San Antonio for a 6 p.m. contest March 20 against the Roadrunners (7-10, 0-2 C-USA). They will then play host to the Cardinals (13-9, 3-3 Southland) at 6 p.m. March 21 at Bobcat Ballpark.

Texas State leads the all-time series with UTSA 57-34. The two teams split a two-game set last year, and TXST defeated the Roadrunners 5-2 in San Marcos last week.

The Bobcats lead the all-time series with UIW 23-9. They are also on a six-game win streak over the Cardinals dating back to the last loss that came on Feb. 8, 2000. Over the win streak, the maroon and gold has outscored Incarnate Word 50-14.

A LOOK AT TEXAS STATE
•    Texas State is currently 13-4-1 this season and riding an 11-game unbeaten streak.

•    The Bobcats are coming off a three-game sweep over Appalachian State this past weekend to open Sun Belt Conference action.
•    TXST entered the national discussion for the first time this season, as the maroon and gold earned a national rank of No. 30 by Collegiate Baseball News.
•    Senior Derek Scheible led the Bobcats at the plate last weekend with a .417 average (5-for-12) that included two home runs, three runs scored and five RBIs.
•    Senior Jared Huber leads TXST in batting average overall this season, as he is hitting .333 (14-for-42).
•    The Texas State pitching staff boasted a 2.00 ERA this past weekend and held the Mountaineers to a .182 batting average.

A LOOK AT UTSA
•    The Roadrunners (7-10, 0-2 C-USA) have dropped their last three games - a midweek loss last week to Texas State and a two-game series sweep at No. 15 Southern Miss.
•    Before the three-game skid, they were winners in five of their last seven games.
•    Bryan Arias leads the Roadrunners with a .286 batting average (20-for-70). He leads UTSA in runs scored (13), is tied for the team lead in home runs (3) and is second with 13 RBIs. Tony Beam leads the squad in both homers (3) and RBIs (14).

A LOOK AT INCARNATE WORD
•    The Cardinals (13-9, 3-3 SLC) were swept in a three-game series this past weekend at Central Arkansas.
•    Prior to the three losses, UIW was riding a five-game win streak with sweeps over Maine and Abilene Christian.
•    The team is 0-5 on the road this season.
•    Eddy Gonzalez leads Incarnate Word with a .384 batting average (28-for-73). He is tied for the team lead with 14 runs scored, and he also has nine RBIs.
•    David Anaya leads the side with 18 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Kyle Bergeron has a team-leading two homers and 33 hits, 17 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

THE BOBCAT PITCHING STAFF
•    Texas State's pitching staff has been dominant throughout the first 18 games in 2018.
•    The Bobcat hurlers have been much improved from last season, beginning with an ERA that currently stands at 2.68 compared to 4.91 through 18 games last season.
•    By comparison, TXST's pitchers have conceded fewer runs (54-107), earned runs (47-90), hits (112-170), wild pitches (13-25), doubles (26-32), triples (4-6), and balks (0-2) compared to this time last year. The maroon and gold is the only team in the SBC who has yet to commit a balk.
•    Texas State has also upped its totals in strikeouts (142-128), saves (5-0), shutouts (2-1), and wins (13-11).
•    The only numbers that favor 2017 are fewer hits-by-pitch (19-18) and walks (79-77).
•    The Bobcats lead the Sun Belt in numerous categories, including ERA, opponent batting average, fewest losses, hits allowed, runs allowed, earned runs allowed, andd home runs allowed. The Bobcats also rank second in wins and saves.

ESTABLISHING NEW CAREER-HIGHS
    Below is a list of all Bobcat returners who have registered new single-game career highs in 2018.
•    Broc Bosse - 2.1 innings pitched (Oklahoma State), 3 strikeouts (McNeese State)
•    Cole Coffey - 2 runs scored (Stephen F. Austin)
•    Nicholas Fraze - 8 strikeouts (Appalachian State)
•    Zachary Leigh - 7.2 innings pitched and 8 strikeouts (Appalachian State)
•    Brandon Lewis - 8 strikeouts (McNeese State)
•    Braden Pearson - 4 strikeouts (Rice)
•    Derek Scheible - 2 home runs (UC Santa Barbara)

HARRINGTON EARNS WIN NO. 600
•    Texas State coach Ty Harrington earned win No. 600 of his illustrious career with a 6-5 triumph at UC Santa Barbara March 11.
•    The Bobcats won the series opener against the Gauchos 1-0 and picked up Harrington's 600th win thanks in large part to two home runs from senior Derek Scheible.
•    Coach Harrington is in his 19th season leading the Bobcats, and all 600+ of his victories have been as TXST's head skipper.
•    He entered this year with 591 career victories, giving him an average of 32.8 wins per season.
•    Harrington had his first-collegiate victory against Lubbock Christian on Feb. 2, 2000, and he picked up win No. 500 against Baylor on April 24, 2014.

WALKOFF U
•    The 2017 campaign was filled with comebacks for the Bobcats. Texas State recorded seven walkoff victories and collected six victories when trailing after eight innings.
•    The first walkoff came against Purdue on Feb. 18, when Texas State scored eight runs in the final two innings to defeat the Boilermakers 13-11. The win was capped by a two-out, two-RBI home run from Derek Scheible.
•    The second walkoff came off the bat of Jared Huber, whose two-out single plated Ryan Newman and gave TXST a 6-5, 10-inning victory over Richmond on March 5.
•    Texas State defeated Alabama A&M on March 12 in run-rule fashion (10-0 in eight innings) when Mickey Scott registered a two-out RBI single to drive in Jonathan Ortega.
•    Newman hit a walkoff homer in the 14th inning of Texas State's 5-4 win over Coastal Carolina on March 17. The Bobcats scored a game-tying run with two outs in the bottom of the 12th before earning the triumph.
•    TXST defeated Texas 11-10 on March 21 with a two-out RBI single from Luke Sherley that scored Newman in the bottom of the 10th. TXST plated three runs in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings, with the game-tying run coming with two outs.
•    The maroon and gold received a two-out, two-RBI single from Ortega to walkoff Georgia State by a 10-9 margin on May 6.
•    Scheible added a second walkoff to his resume on May 20 against UTA, when his pinch-hit double in the 10th inning drove in Scott to hand TXST a 7-6 victory. The Bobcats tied the game with a two-out run in the bottom of the ninth.
•    In 2018, Texas State has already recorded two walkoff victories. The first came on March 4, when Dylan Paul hit an RBI triple and scored on an error to beat Stephen F. Austin 7-6 and complete the weekend sweep.
•    The Bobcats loaded the bases and Jaylen Hubbard earned a walkoff walk on March 17 to lift TXST over Appalachian State 3-2.
