SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State tennis team snapped a three-match winless streak with a 4-3 victory over Incarnate Word Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Center.

With the win the Bobcats improve to 3-3 on the year while the Cardinal drop to 2-7.

Julia Navajo-Melendez and
Joy Chia Ming Ming shutout the pairing of Maria Batchinsky and Alejandra Tamayo in the No. 3 doubles match 6-0. The duo of
Eva Dench and
Alex Jones followed with a 6-4 win over Rachel Sadiq and Matea Zemunik to give the doubles points to the Bobcats.

Easily handling business in the No. 4 singles was
Ana Perez with a 6-1, 6-2 victory for the first singles point for either team. After Sadiq got the Cardinals on the scoreboard with a 6-3, 6-0 win in the No. 2 match, Jones brought Texas State to within one point of the clinching the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

A few minutes later, Chia Ming Ming defeated Batchinsky 6-2, 6-3 in the fifth match to seal the victory for the Bobcats.

In the match of the day at the No. 1 singles, Dench dropped the first set to Zemunik 6-2 but rallied to win the first five points of the second set on her way to a 6-1 set win and forcing a decisive third set. Zemunik eventually pulled away in the third to win the matchup.

The Bobcats conclude their six-match homestand on Tuesday at 2 p.m. against I-35 rival UTSA.
