SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State track and field teams have a busy weekend ahead hosting the Bobcat Invitational at Bobcat Track & Field Stadium and competing in the 89th Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. Both meets will take begin Thursday and end Saturday.

"The Texas Relays is more for our student-athletes to go out and have fun and enjoy the competitive team atmosphere," said
Jody Stewart, Director of Track and Field/Cross Country. "We look at the Relays as a momentum builder for the rest of the outdoor season and everybody is excited about it. Our home meet, which coincides with the Texas Relays, is a great event for collegiate and post collegiate athletes to have an additional opportunity to compete."

Over 1,500 athletes, a meet record, will be competing at the Bobcat Invitational from all three NCAA divisions. Competing alongside the collegiate competitors will be professionals and Olympic hopefuls. Thursday and Friday begins at 8:30 a.m. with decathlon events and Saturday kicks off at 9 a.m. with the women's javelin.

Up in Austin, the Bobcats will face off against dozens of NCAA contenders in one of the largest track meets in the country. Other programs competing include Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, LSU and Texas A&M. The meet will air live on the Longhorn Network and feature 14 hours of coverage over the three days.
