Women's Tennis PLays UL Monroe And Arkansas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team travels to Lafayette, La. on Friday and Saturday to play a pair of Sun Belt Conference teams in neutral site matches. The Bobcats will play UL Monroe on Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., and against Arkansas State on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Both matches will be played at Cajun Courts.
 
The Bobcats enter Friday's match with a 5-9 record after dropping a 6-1 decision against Central Arkansas last Tuesday when the Bobcats won the doubles point and lost all six singles matches. The loss came after the Bobcats had rallied to beat UTEP 4-3 on Sept. 18 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
 
A LOOK AT UL MONROE
UL Monroe enters Friday's match with a 9-2 record after defeating UL Lafayette 4-0 on Thursday afternoon.  Luana Stanciu leads the Warhawks with a 10-0 record in singles matches, while Tiffany Mylonas owns a 9-2 mark in dual matches. Patricia Villar owns an 8-3 record this spring. Mylonas and Stanciu are 8-1 in doubles matches to lead UL Monroe.
 
A LOOK AT ARKANSAS STATE
Arkansas State enters Saturday's match with a 0-11 record in dual matches this spring after falling 6-1 at Western Kentucky last Wednesday. Julie Gauguery leads the Red Wolves with three wins in singles play.
 
BOBCAT BITES
Ana Perez leads Texas State with six singles victories after winning five of her last six matches. Perez won matches against Alcorn State, Air Force, Rice, Southern Utah and UTEP before dropping her match against Central Arkansas last Tuesday.
 
Eva Dench is tied for the team lead with eight doubles wins with each win coming in No. 2 matches this spring. Dench has teamed with Pippa Carr to win three of their last four decisions. She also teamed with Katy Collins to post a 5-3 mark earlier this year.
 
Carr ranks second among team leaders with five singles wins, including three in No. 2 matches.
 
Collins also has won eight doubles matches overall and has four victories in singles play. She has teamed with Ammaarah Tim for a 3-2 record in No. 3 doubles matches this season.
 
UP NEXT
Following Saturday's match against Arkansas State, the Bobcats travel to San Antonio for a match against I-35 rival UTSA on March 30 at 3 p.m.
