SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team's two-match winning streak was snapped after the Bobcats suffered a 5-2 loss against Air Force on Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Bobcats fell behind early when Air Force captured the doubles point after winning matches on courts one and two. First,
Katy Collins and
Eva Dench fell 6-3 in the No 2 match against Jocelle Rudico and Chloe Forlini before
Yadira Rubio and
Ana Perez fell 6-4 against Mary Meyers and Lily Forlini.
The Falcons also won four of the six singles matches to clinch the victory.
Joy Chia Ming Ming was forced to retire on court five after winning the first set by a score of 6-3 and trailing 3-1 against Rudico.
Katy Collins scored Texas State's first team point in the match after she won a 6-2, 6-1 decision against Lily Forlini on court four.
Carr fell 6-2, 7-5 against Chloe Forlini on court two before the final three matches featured tiebreakers in the first set.
Rubio dropped her match against Elizabeth Barnickel by a score of 7-6 (2), 6-3 on court three and Dench suffered a 7-6 (3), 6-3 loss against Meyers on court one.
Texas State earned its second point when Perez won her match against Elisa Nelson in three sets on court six. After Nelson won the first set by a score of 7-5, Perez won the second set by a score of 7-6 after winning the tiebreaker, 6-2, and the third set by a score of 10-7.
Texas State returns to action on Sunday when the Bobcats travel to Rice for a match at the George R. Brown Tennis Center at 12 p.m. The match will feature
live scoring and live video.
