SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team looks to win its second straight match when the Bobcats travel to Ruston, La. and play Louisiana Tech on Friday. The match will be played at the LA Tech Tennis Complex and begins at 11 a.m. The Bobcats also play a pair of matches in Natchitoches, La. on Saturday against Northwestern State and Alcorn State at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex. The Bobcats will battle the Lady Demons at 9:30 a.m. and meet Alcorn State at 12:30 p.m.
Texas State enters this weekend with a record of 1-4 after winning a 6-1 decision at Incarnate Word on Feb. 13. The Bobcats opened the season with losses against McNeese State, South Alabama, Nicholls State and No. 40-ranked Auburn.
A LOOK AT THE COMPETITION Louisiana Tech enters Friday's match with a 7-2 record after winning a 6-1 decision at Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 17. LA Tech also has a 1-0 record in home matches after beating intrastate rival Northwestern State by a score of 6-1.
Northwestern State will play its second home match of the season against UTSA on Friday before playing the Bobcats on Saturday morning. The Lady Demons enter Friday's match with a 0-4 record following a 4-3 loss at Southern Miss. Northwestern State is 0-1 at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex this year following a 4-2 loss against UL Monroe on Feb. 10.
Alcorn State enters Saturday's match with a 0-6 record following its loss at New Orleans last Saturday. The Braves also played a pair of matches against Mississippi State on Jan. 16 and two matches at Southeastern Louisiana on Jan. 29. In between those four matches Alcorn State also played at Southern Miss on Jan. 23.

Eva Dench picked up her first career victory while playing in the No. 1 spot for the Bobcats at Incarnate Word. She enters the Louisiana Tech match with a 1-1 record in No. 1 matches after playing the first top-seeded singles match of her career at Auburn a week earlier.
Dench also teams with senior
Katy Collins to form Texas State's No. 2 doubles team and they enter this weekend having won three of their last four matches.
Freshman
Joy Chia Ming Ming won her second straight singles match in straight sets and has a 2-0 record after winning her No. 6 matches at Auburn and Incarnate Word.
She also teamed with junior
Pippa Carr to win her first doubles match this spring at Incarnate Word. In addition to the doubles victory, Carr recorded her second singles victory of the season at Incarnate Word.
Ana Perez won her first collegiate dual match in singles play at Incarnate Word. Perez teams with
Yadira Rubio to form Texas State's top doubles team. They enter this weekend with a 2-1 record and were leading in two other matches when play was halted after the doubles point had been decided.
NEXT WEEKFollowing its three matches this weekend, Texas State will play Air Force in San Antonio on Feb. 27 at the UTSA Tennis Center before traveling to Rice on Feb. 28. The Air Force match begins at 11 a.m. and the Rice match starts at noon.
