SAN MARCOS, Texas – After a two week hiatus from conference play, the Texas State softball team will resume Sun Belt competition with a three-game series scheduled this weekend against Troy. The Bobcats and the Trojans will play in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. and a single game will take place at 12 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Bobcat Softball Stadium.

Texas State's last SBC competition was against then-No. 8 UL Lafayette on March 28-29. The Bobcats took the first game from the Ragin' Cajuns before dropping the final two.

The Bobcats currently are sitting in fifth place in the Sun Belt Conference with a 6-5 conference record. Overall, Texas State is 22-18 and is looking to snap a three-game skid.

A Look At The CompetitionThe Trojans of Troy enter the weekend conference series with a 24-17 overall record and 7-5 mark in the Sun Belt Conference.

Hannah Day leads the Trojans at the plate with a batting average of .320. She has hit a team-high 39 hits with eight doubles, a pair of triples, and five home runs. Her 34 RBI is also a team-high. As a team, the Trojans are hitting .253 from the plate while allowing their opponents a .275 average. Troy has hit 41 home runs as a team while giving up just 21.

Jaycee Affeldt is the primary pitcher for the Trojans with 127.0 inning of work in the circle with a 2.59 ERA. Affeldt has struck out a team-high 100 batters and opponents only after .237 against her.

The Trojans are under the direction of Beth Mullins who is currently in her first season at the helm of Troy. Coming into the weekend, Troy is sitting in fourth place in the nine team league.

Bobcat BitsTexas State comes into the weekend with a .288 team batting average led by
Kendall Wiley with a mark of .395 from the plate. Wiley has hit a team-high 47 hits and has recorded a team-high 37 RBI. Six members of the Bobcat squad are currently averaging over .300. Those Bobcats include freshman
Ariel Ortiz with a mark of .364, seniors
Courtney Harris and
Kortney Koroll with marks of .333 and .300, respectively,
Kelli Baker with a .324 showing and
Katie Doerre with a .306 mark.

Texas State has also hit 48 home runs this season, a total that is just 11 shy of the program record of 59 set in 2003.

Freshman pitcher
Randi Rupp leads the way in the circle for the Bobcats with 183.1 innings pitched and a conference-high 210 strikeouts. She owns a 3.17 ERA and a 16-11 overall record with eight shutouts this season.
