SAN MARCOS – After a big upset of No. 3 Houston on Wednesday night, Texas State will host Central Michigan in a four-game set over the weekend with games scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. However, fans keep watch for updates throughout the weekend on changes to the schedule due to weather.

The Series                                                                                                  Texas State and Central Michigan have never met in a baseball game. The Bobcats are the hotter team coming into the game with consecutive wins and the latest one over No. 3 Houston. Meanwhile, Central Michigan has the better record at 5-3, but have dropped two coming into the weekend.

On the ChippewasAfter taking three of four at Florida Gulf Coast, Central Michigan won the first two games at Stetson, but dropped the second two. Now they travel to San Marcos for four games amid 21 games on the road to start the season.

Central Michigan has two hitters hitting .300 or above with Pat MacKenzie leading the way at .375. Logan Regnier hits .323. The duo have combined for 22 hits, four doubles and four triples along with 10 RBI. Regnier seems to be the most dangerous with three doubles, three triples, seven RBI and seven runs scored. He is slugging .613.

The Chippewas have stolen three more bases than their opponents, 11-8, but have eight less RBI. Opponents are hitting .294 against Central Michigan. Two of the team's starting pitchers this weekend are hovering around a 5.00 ERA with Pat Leatherman just below it at 4.91 and Adam Aldred above it at 5.73 Nick Deeg, the Friday man owns the best ERA among the starters at a mere 0.75.

On the BobcatsTexas State looked like a different team in the upset victory over No. 3 Houston. After beating Wichita State in the final game of the series Sunday, the Bobcats were impressive in a 7-6 win over Houston. With that, Texas State is looking to carry momentum into the weekend.

Cody Lovejoy owns the hot bat right now, hitting .385. He leads the Bobcats with a six-game hitting streak and in hits with 10. He has an impressive .429 on-base percentage, second only to
Ben McElroy's .484. He also has three stolen bases so far this season.

A Look AheadThe Bobcats will host UT-Pan American in the midweek next week, playing the Broncs on Wednesday at 6 p.m. a week after they took Texas to the edge, losing a one-run game in the midweek. After that, the Bobcats will already be in conference play with UL Monroe coming to town for a three-game series March 6-8.
