The Series
Texas State has an overwhelming advantage in the all-time series against UTSA, 52-28, winning the last three games played. One of those wins was just two weeks ago when the Bobcats won an impressive walk-off victory, 7-6, to give Head Coach Ty Harrington a 30-18 record all-time against UTSA.

The Bobcats entered the bottom of the ninth inning down 6-3. After a hit, a fielder's choice, a double and a hit by pitch, the bases were loaded for Garrett Mattlage. Mattlage improved to a perfect 6-for-6 with three walks in bases loaded situations when he knocked a bases clearing double to tie the game. Just one batter later, Granger Studdard brought in Mattlage for the win with his third walk-off hit of the season and the young freshman's career.

Austin O'Neal led the Bobcats in that game with a 3-for-4 while Matt Smith and Studdard each knocked two hits.

The last time the Bobcats won on the road against UTSA was just last season with a 12-3 victory in the Sunday finale of a Western Athletic Conference series. The Bobcats dropped the Friday game, 3-2, but bounced back in a big way with a 13-8 victory in an 11-inning game. Texas State scored five runs in the top of the 11th, and Hunter Lemke pitched four innings of relief with a career high seven strikeouts.

On the Roadrunners
The Roadrunners of UTSA were able to get hot after dropping to Texas State in the last meeting. Since then, UTSA is 5-2, picking up four of those wins all in a row. The Roadrunners beat Tulane and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the road and then beat Marshall twice in San Antonio.

R.J. Perucki continues to pace UTSA in hitting with a .345 batting average, 48 hits, three home runs and 30 RBI. The leading RBI-hitter is Mike Warren though. He has knocked 35 RBI on 46 hits and is batting just a shade under Perucki at .341.

The Bobcats will have to be aware of Jesse Baker if he gets on base, sporting a .361 on-base percentage this season, because he is UTSA's leading base stealer. Baker has stolen nine bases on 12 attempts and is responsible for more than 2/3 of UTSA's 25 stolen bases.

The Bobcats will face Boone Mokry on the mound again. He has a 2.80 ERA and is 1-1 on the season with six starts. Mokry has tallied 20 strikeouts to 11 walks on the season. Against the Bobcats he went six innings and only gave up five hits with three walks. He struck four batters out and allowed two earned runs.

On the Bobcats
The Bobcat bats are hot right now. Garrett Mattlage has creeped into the .300s batting average wise while Cory Geisler tallied nine hits in 13 at-bats over the weekend series at UL Monroe to boost his batting average to .313. He may play centerfield or pitch against UTSA.

Granger Studdard keeps on hitting for power, slugging .410 on the season with a team-leading five home runs. He hit the team's second grand slam of the season in a win against ULM on Friday and knocked another two-run homer on Saturday.

Dylan Bein will get the starting nod for the Bobcats. He had his best outing of his young career against UTSA, going six innings, striking out eight, walking just two and only giving up four hits and no earned runs.

A Look Ahead
Texas State hosts Georgia State in this weekend's series with games at 6:30 p.m. on Good Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday. After that, it will be a home-and-home series against Baylor with a game in Waco on next Tuesday and another one in San Marcos that Wednesday.
