Women's Hoops Plays Regular Season Finale

Game Notes

Troy, Ala. –
The Texas State women's basketball team is looking to close out its 2013-14 regular season with back-to-back road wins for the second time this season, when it heads to Troy to take on the Trojans at 5:15 p.m., on Saturday at the Trojan Arena.

Last Time Out

In their last game, the Bobcats were fueled by a 14-0 run in the second half to go past South Alabama Wednesday night 64-60 at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala.

Down 44-36, Jasmine Baugus began the spurt with a left short corner jumper off an assist from Ayriel Anderson. The assist would jump start Anderson's night, who finished with 18 points, five assists and two steals. She followed her assist up by scoring five straight points with a long range three to cut the then-deficit to 44-43.

Up 48-44 with 7:10 to go, Anderson made perhaps her most acrobatic play of the night, leaping and stealing an inbounds pass with one arm before laying it in to give the Bobcats a 50-44 lead, capping the run. Anderson scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half and had four of her five assists after halftime as well.

A Look at Troy

Troy comes into Saturday's contest with a 12-16 overall record and an 8-9 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. Troy is in a logjam in the standings, currently in a tie for fifth place. Depending on the outcome of Saturday's game and other results around the league, Troy could find itself as high as fifth or as low as eighth heading into the conference tournament.

The Trojans have played very well of late, winning their last six straight game at home and six of their last nine overall.

Troy is led by senior standout JoAnna Harden. Harden is averaging a league-best 25.8 points per game and earlier this season had an NCAA season-high 52 points against Alabama-Huntsville.

Bobcat Tidbits

With a win at South Alabama on Wednesday, the Bobcats would earn their fourth Sun Belt season sweep of the season, after previously sweeping UT Arlington, South Alabama and UL Lafayette.

Texas State is also shooting for its third season with 11 conference wins since 2007, and it would be the most since the team won 14 during the 2008 season.

The Bobcats are also looking to get above .500 for the first time since the opening night of the season when it began 1-0.
