Texas State is hosting Texas for the first time since the home opener in 2009. The Longhorns have the advantage in the all-time series, 38-9, while Head Coach
Ty Harrington is 5-24 against Texas. The Bobcats have yet to win a home game against the Longhorns, but registered its last road win on April 27, 2005, a 2-1 victory. Texas has won 17 in a row against the Bobcats with a 12-5 victory in the last meeting on April 9, 2013.

On the Longhorns
Texas has won two in a row coming into the team's first meeting of 2014 with Texas State. The Longhorns took three of four games from Hawaii over the weekend.

Texas starter Blake Goins is 1-0 on the year in two starts and five appearances. In 7.1 innings he's given up four hits, no runs while striking out three and walking five.

The top hitter for Texas is Mark Payton, batting .433 with 26 hits, 11 RBI, four triples, two doubles and a home run. He's also walked 15 times for an on-base percentage of .547 with three stolen bases.

Behind him are C.J. Hinojosa (.279), Brooks Marlow (.271) and Kacy Clemens (.263). As a team, the Longhorns are batting .244 with a team on-base percentage of .338. They've stolen 14 bases on the base paths led by Ben Johnson with four, Payton with his three and Collin Shaw with three.

For the Bobcats,
Tyler Pearson continues to lead the way with a .347 batting average, .571 slugging percentage and a .448 on-base percentage, all team-highs. He's also knocked a team-leading three home runs and leads the team in hits with 17.

Texas State is an impressive 9-2 at home and will be looking for its 10
th victory at Bobcat Ballpark Tuesday.

Freshman
Dylan Bein will receive the start and he boasts just a 1.80 ERA. In four appearances and two starts, he's struck out nine, walked five and allowed two earnend runs and nine hits in 10 innings of work.

A Look Ahead
The Bobcats will start the conference season this weekend when they host UT Arlington at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. After that, Texas State will face Rice for the second time this season but the first at Bobcat Ballpark. They play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18.
