GULFPORT, Miss. – The Texas State softball team picked up another victory at the Gulf Coast Classic before falling in the night cap on Saturday. In the first game of the day, the Bobcats defeated the Bobcats of Ohio by a score of 3-2. In the finale for the day, No. 12 Baylor downed Texas State by a score of 11-1. The Bobcats move to 13-6 on the season with two games left to play in Gulfport, Miss.

Rayn House earned her 10
th victory of the season against Ohio, becoming the first pitcher in the Sun Belt Conference to reach that achievement. She also leads the conference with 95 strikeouts, surpassing her 2013 total of just 86.

All of Texas State's scores in game one were direct result of home runs, one by
Courtney Harris and one by
Kortney Koroll that lifted the Bobcats past Ohio.

Harris hit a solo shot in the top of the fourth, putting the Bobcats up 1-0 after three scoreless innings of action.

After Texas State allowed a run in the bottom of the fifth, the two teams were forced to go into extras. It was in the top of the eighth when Koroll smacked her team-high fourth home run of the season to put Texas State up 3-1.

Ohio answered with one in the bottom of the eighth, but behind the pitching of House, Texas State was able to get out of the inning before more damage was done.

Kelli Baker, Harris, and Koroll all recorded a pair of hits in the first game. The Bobcats ended the game with nine hits. House finished the contest with 13 strikeouts.

In game two, Baylor scored all of its runs in the first four innings, topped by a five-run second.

Texas State hit three straight singles on one out in the bottom of the first inning, but struggled to move the runners beyond third to get runs on the board.

Kendall Wiley started the bottom of the third inning off with a double to right center and proceeded to head to third on an error by the Bears right fielder. With two outs and Wiley standing on third, senior
Coralee Ramirez hit a single to left, scoring Wiley for the lone Bobcat run of the game.

The Bobcats finished with nine hits in the game behind the lead of Baker and Wiley who each went 2-for-3 for the game and
Jordan Masek who went 2-for-2.

Ashley Wright earned the loss against Baylor and falls to 2-1 on the year.

Texas State continues play tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. as it preps to play former Southland Conference foe Nicholls State. The Bobcats will then wrap up the Gulf Coast Classic against Mississippi State at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs came into the Gulf Coast Classic with a perfect 14-0 record, but fell to No. 12 Baylor in an eight-inning affair.
