SAN DIEGO, Calif. – In its first day of action at the Campbell/Cartier Classic hosted by San Diego State, the Texas State softball team went 1-1, earning a 3-0 shutout over St. Mary's before falling 4-2 to Cal State Fullerton in the afternoon contest.

Sophomore first baseman
Kendall Wiley extended her hitting streak to seven games, finishing the afternoon going 3-for-6 from the plate.

In game one, the Bobcats got off to a quick start against the Gaels.
Timishia North became the first base runner of the game for Texas State, reaching on after an error by the St. Mary's shortstop. The Bobcats took advantage of the error as
Jordan Masek singled through the right side that ultimately scored North on the throw in from the outfield. The second run of the first inning came after Wiley earned her first hit of the afternoon, scoring Masek who started on second.

After a pair of scoreless innings, Texas State added on to its lead in the top of the fourth inning. Leading off in the inning, Wiley once again found her way to the base paths after a walk by the Gaels pitching staff.
Courtney Harris then singled to center field, sending Wiley to second base. With runners at first and second, senior
Delia Saucedo stepped up to the plate and singled up the middle, scoring Wiley.

Six Bobcats recorded hits in game one, including freshman
Lexi Fryar.
Rayn House earned her fourth victory of the season in a four-hit complete game shutout. She struck out eight batters while walking just one.

The Texas State bats continued in game two, scoring the first two runs of the game against Cal State Fullerton. In the first inning, North once again started the Bobcats on the right foot, hitting a double down the left field line to get on with one out. With North on second and two outs, Wiley hit a single to right field that would send North home for the first run of the game.

Texas State added to its lead in the bottom of the second as the first three batters of the inning managed to get on base. With the bases loaded and no one out,
Kelli Baker reached on a fielder's choice, scoring pinch runner
Alli Akina who was standing on third.

Cal State Fullerton returned the favor in the top of the third, scoring four runs and capitalizing on an error by
Courtney Harris.

The Titans would proceed to hold Texas State scoreless through the end of the contest, limiting the Bobcats to just two more hits for the rest of the game.

Freshman
Kaylee Garner picked up the loss in game two, falling to 1-2 on the year. Sophomore
Ashley Wright came in relief for Garner, putting in four and two thirds while striking out three.

Wiley finished game two going 2-for-4 with an RBI and Fryar finished the game with two hits in three plate appearances.
