SAN MARCOS – Baseball season is finally here and the Bobcats will get it started Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Michigan as part of the team's Texas State Invitational. There will be three games Friday and two each Saturday and Sunday with Texas State playing Washington at 2 p.m. Saturday and Air Force at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The Bobcats have already received plenty of preseason accolades heading into this season. Senior catcher
Tyler Pearson is a nominee for the Johnny Bench Award, awarded to the best catcher in the country.

Freshman infielder
Granger Studdard was named the preseason Freshman of the Year in the Sun Belt Conference by Baseball America.

Baseball America continued to shower its praise on Texas State when it named senior pitcher
Scott Grist to its list of the top 50 collegiate senior prospects in the nation. He came in 46
th.

The Bobcats also have four All-Conference selections returning this season in All-WAC second teamers
Hunter Lemke,
Lucas Humpal and
Garrett Mattlage along with first teamer
Cody Lovejoy. Lovejoy led the team in batting average a season ago while Mattlage led the team in hits.

Lemke tallied eight saves for the second best season ever by a Texas State reliever and Humpal was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
