Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas – Texas State will conclude a long road trip that included a midweek game at Rice and a weekend series at Sacramento State with another midweek game against Texas at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
 
Freshman Lucas Humpal will receive his second start of the season, as he also started against Rice. The young righty's counterpart will be junior hurler Josh Urban for Texas. Urban gets his first start of the season, but in just eight appearances and 13.1 innings pitched, Urban has put together a strong earned run average of just 1.35. Humpal owns an impressive 2.16 ERA.
 
Texas State will look to get the bats popping again as they fell quiet against one of the best defensive teams in the Western Athletic Conference, Sacramento State, this past weekend. Texas also has a strong defense, fielding .976 so far this season.
 
Humpal's top concerns will be Mark Payton (.389) and Erich Weiss (.348), the team's top two hitters. The duo went 5-for-8 with four runs scored against the Bobcats in the last meeting between the teams.
