Softball Welcomes I-35 Rival UTSA This Weekend

San Marcos, Texas –Texas State and UTSA will face each other in its final showdown as conference opponents this weekend at Bobcat Softball Stadium. Friday's doubleheader is slated to begin at 4 p.m. with the second game to follow. Saturday's single game contest will start at 1 p.m.

Texas State So Far..

Texas State is 5-22 so far this season, after earning a pair of victories last week. Freshman Ashley Wright has three of Texas State's wins in the circle as she posts a 3-9 record with an ERA of 4.78, in addition to 22 strikeouts. Junior Rayn House has a team-high 45 strikeouts. Senior Haley Lemons leads Texas State at the plate with a batting average of .306, 26 hits and 13 runs scored. Sophomore Courtney Harris is tied for fourth in the league with a team-high 18 RBI.

 

Scouting UTSA

UTSA enters the weekend with an overall record of 15-12. The Roadrunners have the second-best batting average in the league at .291, and have accumulated 203 hits this season. Catcher Megan Low is the top player for UTSA as she is hitting .424, and slugging a league-high .727.

 

Hitting for the Fence

The Bobcats have 12 total home runs this season, that's three more than Texas State had in all of 2012. Jordan Masek leads the pack with a trio of homers, while Coralee Ramirez, Katie Doerre and Courtney Harris have all registered two apiece.

Against UTSA

Texas State is 38-43 all-time versus its opponent this week. The Bobcats are 27-13 against UTSA under Woodard.
