Texas State Track and Field Teams Travel To The Texas A&M Invitational

College Station, Texas - The Texas State men's and women's track and field teams have their final tune-up before the 2013 WAC Indoor Championships when the Bobcats travel to Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday, February 9 at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium inside the McFerrin Athletic Center.
 
Texas State will compete against teams from Texas A&M, Houston, Cal State Northridge, Rice, TCU and UTEP in the scored meet.
 
The invitational begins with the women's triple jump and men's pole vault at noon. Running events start with the preliminary heats of women's and men's 60-meter hurdles at 2:00 p.m.
 
In addition, there will be five Olympic Development events held and they include the men's long jump, along with the men's and women's 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, 400-meter run and mile run.
 
Bobcats In The Polls
Texas State enters this week's competition ranked sixth in the Women's South Central Regional poll for the second straight week. The Bobcats are the top-ranked mid-major school in this week's poll behind Arkansas, LSU, Texas A&M, Texas and Baylor with Texas State trailing the Bears by less than three points.
 
In the men's poll, Texas State is ranked 13th this week. Arkansas is the top-ranked team and followed by Texas &M, Texas, LSU, Baylor, Houston, UTSA and Arkansas State. UT Arlington and Sam Houston State round out the top 10 teams in the poll, with Stephen F. Austin and Rice ranked just ahead of Texas State.
 
Individual Regional Rankings
Texas State enters this weekend with seven individuals and a relay team ranked among the Top 10 performers is the South Central Regional rankings. In the men's division, Logan Cunningham is sixth in the pole vault after clearing 5.22 meters (17-01.50) at the Texas Tech Open last Saturday.
 
Danessa Lyssy owns Texas State's top individual ranking as she enters this weekend ranked third in the women's heptathlon after scoring 3,709 points at Houston's Howie Ryan Invitational on Feb. 25. Tina Valenzuela is fourth in the heptathlon after she tallied 3,582 points at Houston as well.
 
Kelsey Titzman posted the region's fourth-best mark in the shot put with 15.28 meters (50-01.25) at the Howie Ryan Invitational.
Danielle Candelaria ranks fifth in the women's high jump after clearing 1.76 meters (5-09.50) at Texas A&M's Texas 12-Team meet on Jan. 12.

Jalisa Hall ranks seventh in the women's weight throw with a mark of 18.11 meters (59-05) at the Texas Tech open last Saturday.
Camille Bender is eighth in the women's triple jump after leaping 12.38 meters (40-3.50) at the Howie Ryan Invitational.
