San Marcos, Texas – Texas State heads for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the second midweek outing this season and just the second road game of the year. The Islanders are 3-5 on the season, playing all of their games at home, while Texas State will bring a 2-5 record to the coastal town.
 
The Islanders won three games in a row after dropping the season opener, but since then has dropped four consecutive games. The first loss in their losing streak was to Texas State's WAC counterpart, UTSA. The next three came to New Mexico, Oklahoma and Iowa.
 
Meanwhile, Texas State took a game off highly respected Tulane at the CenturyLink Bobcat Invitational and came out swinging to take down Houston in the series opener this past weekend, 6-1, behind the arm of Kyle Finnegan and the swinging bat of Cody Lovejoy.
 
Finnegan outdueled the entire Houston pitching staff in the Friday game with nine strikeouts against 22 batters faced while Cougar pitching only struck out a combined seven. Lovejoy did the offensive damage, going 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI.

After dropping the final two games of the series, Texas State will be looking to bounce back against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tuesday night.
