San Marcos, Texas – Bobcat softball will make their home debut this Thursday as they host the Texas Shootout. Competing in the tournament along with Texas State will be No. 25 Baylor, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Texas Tech and UT Arlington. The tournament will run from February 21-24. Texas State So Far..
Texas State is 2-7 so far to open the 2013 season. Freshman Ashley Wright has both of Texas State's wins in the circle as she posts a 2-2 record with an ERA of 4.96, in addition to 12 strikeouts. Senior Anna Hernandez leads Texas State at the plate with a batting average of .375 and three RBI. Freshman Kellie Baker has a team-high 11 hits and five runs scored.
2012 Texas Shootout Recap
Texas State won the Texas Shootout last year in Waco. The Cats lost their first game of the tournament to Texas Tech (6-0), before coming back to defeat North Texas (1-0), UTEP (3-0), No. 9 Baylor (1-0), and Texas Tech (3-1) to win the crown.
