Box Score

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team snapped its three-match losing streak with a victory over UALR on Friday evening. The Bobcats won by a score 4-0 and move to 6-8-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.

Texas State got on the board early and never looked back in the 21st minute of the game with a corner kick goal by senior Sydney Curry. Curry's kick did not touch a foot on either team en route to her fourth goal of the season.

The Bobcats then tacked on their second goal of the night in the 42nd minute after a shot by Kelsie Townsend deflected off of a UALR defender into the Trojan goal.

Texas State had many other scoring opportunities in the half as they won the shot battle 13-5. Of the 13 Bobcat shots, six of those were on goal.

After the intermission, the Bobcats continued to maintain control of the game. In the 76th minute of the contest, senior Gabbi Cottee found the back of the net after Jourdan Brown sent a cross pass right in front of the goal. Then, in the 88th minute, the same play occurred with reversed roles. This time, Cottee sent a pass to the left side as Brown found the back of the net.

The Bobcats finished the game with 22 total shots compared to UALR's 14. Cottee led all Bobcat players with six shots.

Caitlyn Rinehart earned the shutout after spending all 90 minutes in goal for the Bobcats. She is now 1-1-0 for the season.

On Sunday, the Bobcats will return for the final game of the regular season. In the contest against Arkansas State, Texas State will recognize five seniors at the conclusion of the game along with recognition of all of the alumni in attendance during half time. Kick-off in San Marcos is scheduled for 1 p.m.
