San Marcos, Texas – Bobcat softball will open the 2012 season at Arizona State; the defending World Series Champions. The Kajikawa Classic will run from Feb. 10-12. Texas State will play six games in three-days with tough competition all the way through.

The Bobcats will play Syracuse on Friday, Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. and then turn around and play BYU at 1:30 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 11 the Bobcats start their day with an 11:30 a.m. game versus Cal Berkeley, followed by a 4:30 p.m. match-up against ASU. On the final day of completion, Sunday, Feb. 12, Texas State open with an 8:30 a.m. contest versus Washington. The Bobcats final game of the tournament will be against New Mexico at 1:30 p.m. Texas State is 10-6 against this field under head coach Ricci Woodard's guidance.

Texas State opens 2012 as the favorite to win the Southland Conference Championship. Texas State returns 13 letterwinners, including three-time all-conference and all-region selection Chandler Hall. All three pitchers from last years' squad return, as they will play their last season in the SLC.

The Bobcats had four players named to the SLC Preseason Teams. Junior pitcher Anne Marie Taylor and junior first baseman Haley lemons were selected to the first team, while Hall and junior second baseman Anna Hernandez received second team accolades.
