San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State baseball team will look to use the momentum from its series win versus Houston over the weekend when it goes to Fort Worth on Tuesday for a midweek showdown with No. 18 TCU at Lupton Stadium. The Bobcats and Horned Frogs will play their 36h all-time matchup beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Texas State is coming off a pair of wins last weekend versus Houston to improve its record to 4-3 on the season. The Bobcats will take on their third ranked opponent of the season in TCU, which is ranked No. 18 in the latest USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. The Horned Frogs (2-4) spent last weekend in California playing Cal State Fullerton, losing two of three games to fall two games below .500 on the season.
Senior Mitchell Pitts will make his second start of the season for Texas State. The right-hander took the loss against No. 25 Baylor in his first start of the season and will look to bounce back on Tuesday. He will be opposed by freshman Brandon Finnegan of TCU who will make his second career start.
A bright spot for Texas Stats so far this season has been its pitching staff. Bobcat pitchers have compiled a 2.03 ERA thus far in 2012 and recorded 66 strikeouts in 67 combined innings on the mound.
