Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State baseball team will visit Conway, Ark., this weekend for a three-game series beginning on Friday. The Bobcats and Bears will play a 6 p.m. game on Friday before games at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Texas State (19-9, 10-2 SLC) enters the weekend in first place in the Southland Conference, while Central Arkansas (14-16, 4-8 SLC) sits in ninth place in the 12-team league.

The Bobcats will start junior Carson Smith (4-1, 1.50 ERA) on Friday, senior Lee Colon (1-2, 4.05) on Saturday and sophomore Colton Turner (5-0, 3.63) on Sunday. The Bears plan to send junior Andy Steinmetz (1-0, 3.10) to the mound on Friday, junior Ryan Angus (2-2, 3.20) on Saturday and junior Dustin Ward (3-3, 6.54) on Sunday.

Texas State owns a 10-2 record in the all-time series against the Bears that dates back to the 2007 season, and the Bobcat offense has traditionally performed well versus UCA, scoring at least 10 runs in eight of the last 10 games between the two teams.
