San Marcos, Texas – Following a four-game road trip to Arkansas, the Texas State baseball team will return to San Marcos for a mid-week game on Tuesday against Houston Baptist. The Bobcats and Huskies will meet for the 14th time in the all-time series with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Bobcat Ballpark.
The Bobcats (20-11) will look to turn things around as they enter the game with the Huskies having lost four of their last five games. However, Texas State is unbeaten against Houston Baptist, having won each of the previous 13 games with the Huskies including the game last year by a score of 17-2.
Houston Baptist enters Tuesday's game on a four-game winning streak that has helped improve the team's record to 6-22 this season. Thus far in 2011, the Huskies are a combined 0-9 against Southland Conference opponents with losses to Sam Houston State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, McNeese State and Stephen F. Austin.
Getting his second career start for the Bobcats on Tuesday will be sophomore Travis Ballew. The right-hander won his only previous start which was earlier this season against No. 18 Baylor. Ballew has a 1-1 record with a 6.23 ERA in 10 appearances this season.
Starting for HBU will be freshman righty Kyle Dickerson, who will make his first career start. Dickerson has a 10.12 ERA in eight appearances with a 0-0 record.
Tickets for Tuesday's game are available through the Texas State Athletics Ticket Office and be purchased in advance or at the gate. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. for the game.
